THIS SUNDAY'S SERVICE
REV. SALLY FRITSCHE, JULIE LAUT AND CELIA BARBIERI
Sunday, October 3 at 10:15 a.m. via Live-stream
Reproductive rights are in the news, and our UU faith compels us to be part of this conversation. Abortion is more than a political football or an abstract moral conundrum, it is a lived reality and a visceral question of bodily autonomy for anyone capable of becoming pregnant. Join us this Sunday to hear reflections on the religious, historical, and lived realities behind the too often simplified "abortion debate."

Rev. Sally will be joined in the pulpit by UUCUC members Julie Laut and Celia Barbieri. This service will lift up the importance of choice, trust, and listening to the voices of those most closely affected by the policies and norms we uphold.
SUBMITTING JOYS AND SORROWS

Please send your joys or sorrows to joysandsorrows@uucuc.org any time before the Joys and Sorrows portion of the service. They will be read aloud..
Join our online Zoom Fellowship Hour after the service on Sunday (around 11:30a.m.). Come chat with UUCUC members and friends! All are welcome.
Join us on the South Lawn at 12:30 for an in-person fellowship hour - as long as it doesn't rain. Please be sure to mask up and bring a chair or a blanket to sit on.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR GENEROSITY!
Your contributions and support allow us to continue to respond with love and resources to the needs in our congregation and the wider community. We couldn’t do it without your support and we are grateful to each of you.

If you have missed any of the previous live streamed services, you can view them at our past streamed services page. You can also view previous live streamed services on our YouTube channel.
UPCOMING SUNDAY SERVICES
REV KAREN BUSH
Sunday, October 10 at 10:15 a.m. via Live-stream

On Sunday October 10 at 10:15 am come with our UUCUC Consulting Minister, Rev KB, as she takes us to the countryside to the farm and prairie where she grew up two miles south of Urbana.

With a panoramic view of the expansive western skies nearing sunset we will sit (virtually) in the tall prairie grasses with Rev KB as she shares inspirational stories of home, hope and challenge that will touch us all.

We hope you will come join us as together we journey to the prairie to ponder the meaning of home in a world full of those longing to go there.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION NEWS
OUR CARING CONGREGATION
JOYS AND SORROWS sent to joysandsorrows@uucuc.org for last Sunday, September 26, 2021.

From Natalie Becerra-Stasiewicz: Joy for Lavender Stasiewicz’s First birthday on September 16. Matt and Natalie celebrate with Rainbow-themed parties because she is our Rainbow Baby. A Rainbow Baby is a baby born after the loss of a previous baby due to miscarriage, stillbirth, or death in infancy. Lavender’s birth marked the end of a difficult journey for us and the beginning of our colorful adventures together!

From Christine Cahill: It was 50 years ago that I lost my mother in a car accident caused by a drunk driver. To all who have lost their mothers, or didn’t grow up with a nurturing mom, I share your sadness. If you are fortunate enough to have a mom or mom substitute in your life who nurtures you, give her a call today.

From Jerry Carden & Tim Temple: Joy for the festive spirit in town through the whole weekend of Pride Fest and the parade on Saturday. A celebration also of Julie Pryde, our mot awesome CU Public Health District Administrator as Grand Marshal.

From Rev. Sally Fritsche: One month ago I joyfully shared news of my wife’s gender identity with the congregation. I promised I would let you all know about any future name change, and today I am happy to say that her name is Maya! I continue to be so grateful to serve in a community that has been nothing but loving and celebratory through this whole journey- thank you!--

From Rev. Sally Fritsche: Healing prayers for Nancy Dietrich, as she continues to recover from a recent surgery.

From Tanja Hodges: Joy at hearing news solid planning to sing in choir again in a couple of weeks. I’ve so missed my musician friends.

From Karen Khusro: Kind thoughts for my family as we gather around my mom in memory care in Wisconsin with COPD and dementia and now COVID infection. Hospice is now coming as she’s deteriorating. We can gown up and be with her now at least. I so appreciate your support.

From Kathy Robinson: The first phase of my chemo for Leukemia has passed successfully over these last three weeks. Now I must wait and see if more aggressive measures will be required in the weeks to come. I so appreciate all the kind thoughts and well wishing that has taken place. Thank you friends, it means more than I ever knew before now.

From Beth Simpson: Sorrow at the loss of Jerry McDonough, a brilliant scholar and really neat guy.

From Beth Simpson: Joy at the people who helped me celebrate my birthday last Sunday.

From David Wolf: SAVE YOUR GAS; HEAL OUR PLANET. Yes, big corporations emit lots of gas fumes; so we we individuals. ‘Nuf said for now.

GIVING AND GRATITUDE
UUCUC Social Action Offering. Each month a selected organization is chosen to receive offerings from our congregation. You may donate to the social action offering for the month in one of the following ways:

During the month of October 2021, we will support DREAAM House. DREAAM embraces and engages with DREAAMers as early as the age of 3 with the commitment to remain in their lives until they are 24. They work with children and young adults who need DREAAM the most. Some of them face tough odds, needing to overcome challenges such as school suspension, anger issues, parental incarceration, and low academic skills. However, where others see problems, DREAAM sees potential. They reach out to families, community organizations, churches, schools, and service providers to produce caring, outcome-driven services for children and young adults..
