Are you "all in" for 1Day Houston?

Faith communities will come together on April 29 for 1DayHouston—for the sake of the gospel—and you are invited to join in.

Since this ambitious initiative will involve up to 50,000 volunteers in communities across Houston, it
is the ideal way to introduce friends to our Mission Centers or other worthwhile organizations.

"There is a good chance that thousands of the April 29 volunteers will be unfamiliar with the gospel, so it will be a great way to transform lives and the city at the same time," shares MCH Executive Director Jeff Chadwick.

MCH will host family friendly events at both the Gano and Joy Centers, and the Compassion Center, on April 29.

Those that sign up and volunteer for three hours get a t-shirt and ticket to the LoveHasNoLimits concerts at Toyota Center on Saturday and Sunday. There is no other way to get a ticket to the concert. Tim McGraw is the featured country star for the shows. Doors open at 5:30 and the concert starts at 6:30.

May 8 will be great: Two courses + new contests!

What's not to love about enjoying God's beautiful creation complete with flags, rolling green hills and picturesque ponds full of golf balls?

Meet your golf buddies at Cypresswood Golf Club on May 8 for the FUN(d)raiser known as the 2023 MCH Classic, and spend a great day for a great cause. Executive Director Jeff Chadwick says, "This year we will have an extra special "Beat the Pro" contest on each course where you'll have the chance to match your skills with a professional woman golf pro on a par 3."

Adds Jeff, "And golfers as well as non golfers can help boost awareness of their company and the ministry by purchasing a hole sponsor sign for $100. We can feature a logo, your favorite verse or even a special message of your choosing!"

Volunteer Spotlight: Mark Harzler
Meet the Coupon King!
Kingsland Baptist member Mark Hartzler is hooked on helping others—and hooked on 'making a dollar holler.' His background in accounting inspires him to find the best deal for his family and those in need. "I love the challenge of matching coupons with retail specials, and after several decades of practice, I can now leverage apps and other techniques to shop for personal care items that many folks might not otherwise be able to buy," he says. Mark has leveraged his hefty hobby each of the last few years to give MCH an average of $12,ooo worth of razors, shampoos, hair care products, laundry and cleaning supplies, and personal items to share with our clients. "I shop for quality products to give the recipients an emotional boost, knowing people care and God cares about them," Mark adds. "I enjoy the challenge of the hunt for clearance items and rebates, because I know that meeting personal needs is often the first step to meeting spiritual needs."

Easter Season
for All Ages

Kid's clubs at Gano and Joy focused on the significance of welcoming the King into their lives during their Palm Sunday reenactment lesson.
In spite of April showers later in the month, over 80 youngsters sang songs, hunted eggs (with scriptures inside) and learned more about the risen Christ during their Easter parties.
It wasn't exactly like feeding the 5,000, but these sweet volunteers from Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church can relate to feeding a big crowd, in part. They helped serve over 80 seniors in late March at Gano. How exciting for all!
Community helping Community

When small business vendors from Magnolia Park set up a table at the Joy Mission Center, the Mission Market empowers them to make relationships and help support each other.

Easter Luncheon brightens the faces of Gano's volunteers and homeless community
Even grownups love eggs filled with candy, especially with a side of roast beef and all the trimmings. Special thanks to The Met and other volunteers for making the April lunch extra special for our 51 guests. Guests also enjoyed a special message and goodie bag of clothing, groceries and other essentials.
Perfect Attendance!

Praise God: 42 youngsters at Gano had perfect Kids' Club attendance last month!

"This is especially exciting news," shares Cheryl Chadwick, Director of Missionary training, Kids and Volunteer ministries, "because we are seeing them be discipled week after week, consistently learning and growing."
Traci Willis recently brought her husband, Mark to see where she served as a summer intern back in 1990. "It was so exciting to hear Traci's stories about ministering with our founding director Miss Mac and to hear that she changed her college major to social work as a result of being a part of this transformational work," adds Cheryl Chadwick.
Thank you for your support and encouragement as we continue to meet the physical and spiritual needs of people living in Houston's inner city with the love, mercy and grace of Jesus Christ.
