Greetings dear friends!
The Psalm for this week references God providing quail, manna and water for Moses and the Israelites after they narrowly escape Pharaoh's army at the Red Sea. God's people are on their journey to the promised land. But like us, the Israelites start to get a little impatient, a little hangry and begin to doubt if leaving Egypt was such a great idea after all.
I can just hear them now incessantly tapping Moses on the shoulder, are we there yet? I'm hungry! Are we there yet? I have to use the bathroom! Are we there yet? It's no wonder in all of the imaginings of Moses he's got gray hair!
All along the journey of God's people through the wilderness, and in our lives today, we face challenges, pain, and doubt. But if we open our eyes, ears, mind and heart and pay attention--like the manna God provided all those years ago-- God provides for us, too. Whether it be an unexpected phone call from a loved one on a hard day, a beautiful sunset when everything in life seems dark and hopeless, or a few quiet moments where we can finally catch our breath. More often than not, it won't look like what we asked for, but isn't it amazing that what God does provide is enough?
Sending my love to all of you.
