He is the Way...

He is the Way.

Follow Him through the Land of Unlikeness;

You will see rare beasts, and have unique adventures.

He is the Truth.

Seek Him in the Kingdom of Anxiety;

You will come to a great city that has expected your return for years.

He is the Life.

Love Him in the World of the Flesh;

And at your marriage all its occasions shall dance for joy.

-W. H. Auden, For the Time Being: A Christmas Oratorio

New Class: Jesus of the East

“JESUS OF THE EAST: RECLAIMING THE GOSPEL FOR THE WOUNDED"

April 16 - May 4 | Land Building Lakeside Room and Zoom | Book by Phuc Luu

This class will give us an opportunity to explore Christianity and justice from the Eastern Christianity perspective. The author examines his experiences as a Vietnamese immigrant, as well as others who live between pain and hope. Phuc Luu powerfully presents a Christian foresight of holistic healing communities for the traumatized, the unanswerably suffering, and the brokenhearted from sin, sickness, racism, impoverishment, and war. You can purchase on Amazon at this link or at your local book seller's.

"GOD, IMPROV, & THE ART OF LIVING"

January 8 - April 30 | Book by MaryAnn McKibben Dana | 2nd floor conference room

This book blends personal stories, pop culture and scripture into a smart, funny, down-to-earth guide to the art of living.

Tornado Relief Donations

Thank you to all who donated items and funds for the members of Leland Presbyterian Church in Leland, Mississippi! Yesterday, Kathy and Lee Randall packed their car (to the gills!) with much-needed cleaning supplies, tools, ice chests, diapers, etc. collected by Presbyterian Women, along with $800 in gift certificates, to be transported to this Mississippi community which was hard-hit by the tornado earlier this month.

Columbarium Niches Available

The SCAPC Columbarium was created to provide a sacred and secure place for church members and their families who choose cremation. A peaceful gathering place for loved ones, the Columbarium bears witness to the Biblical promise that in life, and in death, we belong to God. Now may be a good time to purchase a niche, as about 80% of the double-occupancy niches have been sold. Single occupancy niches are available as well. If you have questions or would like to purchase a niche, please contact Pierce Young in the church office at 897-0101 x112 or pierce@scapc.org.

Bread Baking as a Spiritual Practice

Last Tuesday, a group of church members gathered for a workshop in which they learned to bake bread not only in the spirit of fellowship but also as an act of faith. The bread they prepared was used for communion at the Maundy Thursday service.

Easter Sunday Highlights

Sarah Chancellor-Watson gave a Children's Message centered on caterpillars and butterflies to an enthusiastic crowd!

Services were closed with Charles-Marie Widor's triumphant "Toccata" from his Symphony for Organ No. 5, performed by organist Steven Blackmon and a brass quintet.
