Located just a few miles from the village, The Kirby Compound offers artist designed and nature inspired rentals. The cottage was once an art studio and the apartment has two bedrooms with additional sleeping room. Located on 40 acres, there are gardens and private trails on site.

Water Breaks
There are over 800 lakes and ponds in all of Vermont and 25% of them are located right here in the Northeast Kingdom. Any which way you go, there's a spot for cooling off on a hot summer day.
Wanna try Stand-Up Paddleboarding, but don't have one? No problem. Village Sport Shop offers SUP rentals. Clyde River Recreation also has a variety of boat/canoe/kayak/SUP rentals and offers all-inclusive self-guided paddle trips on the meandering river.
Of course, a great spot for fishing, swimming and paddling is Lake Willoughby with it's crystal clear and cool water. The south end is the perfect place to bring the dog for some trail romping followed by splashes in the lake.
Just a short drive from Burke is Island Pond with a sandy beach and plenty of fish in the lake. If you're looking for a venture further north, take a scenic drive to Seymour Lake, Norton Pond, Averill Lakes (Great and Little), Echo Lake and many other waterways in the most remote and rural county of the Northeast Kingdom.
One of the best parts of exploring is journeying down a quiet road to discover your very own secret watering hole. Just where are the secret spots? It's up to you to find them! And when you get back to Burke, swing by Clementine's Creamery to enjoy a cone down by the river.
