Park Partner Database and Survey Project
CALPA is currently developing a database that captures what success looks like for park partners. This information will be used to inform future trainings and capacity building activities and services. Look for a survey in the next few months, followed by an opportunity to be interviewed by CALPA board members for more in-depth information. CALPA is conducting this project in collaboration with the California State Parks Partnership's office, Parks California, and the Potrero Group.

Updates from California State Parks Foundation (CSPF)
CA First Partner
Pathways to Parks Campaign

For several year’s California State Parks Foundation has been working with California’s First Partner Jennifer Siebel Newsom on Pathways to Parks, a campaign that introduces and advocates for solutions that increase equitable access to the outdoors. “We have the opportunity right now to build pathways to healthier lives for all Californians – and it starts in our state parks with our kids. Time spent outdoors provides clear mental and physical health benefits at every stage of life, but for youth in underserved communities this opportunity is harder to come by,” said First Partner Jennifer Siebel Newsom. Through the work of many partners, including CALPA members, our shared advocacy has produced big wins in the 2021-2022 state budget. $108 million to support AB 209’s Outdoor Equity Grants Program and expand existing programs linking state parks with K-12 public schools, as well as $9 million to launch a pilot program to expand park pass distribution and $185M for deferred maintenance. CLICK HERE to learn more about a recent event to celebrate these budget wins and read about programs already in place that can be scaled for success across the state.
