Wegman's employees join Mt. Olive volunteer clean-up efforts
New Castle County's continued clean-up and restoration efforts at the Mt. Olive Cemetery in Wilmington continued on Saturday, with dozens of volunteers from Wegman's joining in to help. Clean-ups will continue for the foreseeable future on the second-Saturday of each month, unless weather pushes to the third Saturday. To see video from the clean-up effort, CLICK HERE.
County wins $800K grant for Markell Trail art and improvements
New Castle County has won a nationally competitive grant from the Department of Commerce's Economic Development Administration for over $800,000, which will go toward trail improvements. The grant will fund art installations along the trail, as well as signage and way-finding pieces to improve the trail. To see video on the grant award and learn more, CLICK HERE.
County Executive helps kick off Sacred Grounds program
New Castle County Executive Matt Meyer joined Delaware Interfaith Power and Light to help kick off their Sacred Ground luncheon on June 8th at Hanover Presbyterian Church. With a partnership from the National Wildlife Federation, Delaware Nature Society, and Delaware Center for Horticulture, the project will create a conservation corridor for pollinators.
New Appoquinimink Library set for grand opening on Friday, June 24
New Castle County's newest library is set to open on Friday morning, June 24th. The new Appoquinimink Library has been under construction since April 2021 and will feature state-of-the-art amenities and serve as a dramatic upgrade to the current library, which sits in leased office space.
