National Night Out is an annual event where communities across the United States connect with law enforcement. The focus of National Night Out is to get neighborhoods actively involved in preventing crime in their community.

In Ocean Shores we want to stay diligent as a community while remaining cognizant of the growth in our City. We are excited to do what Ocean Shores does best, come together as a community for the greater good and have an amazing time doing it together!
The City of Ocean Shores Welcomes Greg Nance

On Sunday, July 17, 2022, the City of Ocean Shores got the absolute pleasure of welcoming Greg Nance to our community. Greg took on the incredible endeavor of running 3,000 miles cross country from Long Island, New York to Ocean Shores, Washington to bring awareness to mental health and addiction for children and adolescents.

As Mayor Jon Martin stated, “I have never been prouder of our community as I was during the arrival of Mr. Nance. No matter our backgrounds, no matter our political views, this City comes together as one in a short amount of time to show the true nature of Ocean Shores.”

This welcoming committee took every single element of Ocean Shores, from police, fire, banners by local businesses but most of all, the outpour of cheers that came from each and every one of you involved. To learn more about Greg and his cause be sure to visit his website at www.gregrunsfar.com/

Ocean Shores Police Station Moves to the Voters!

Following years of working in an inadequate space and in dire need of a new police station, the City of Ocean Shores has requested voter approval for a bond issuance to finance the design, construction, and equipping of a new police station for the Ocean Shores Police Department (OSPD).

The existing OSPD station was built in 1990 as a temporary structure. Since that time, the City’s population has approximately tripled, and OSPD has grown from six full-time commissioned officer positions to 12 full-time commissioned officer positions and five support staff positions.
A new police station would provide additional space for OSPD to accommodate the increased staffing levels and to furnish dedicated interview rooms where OSPD could record in-custody interviews, as required under recent state law.

If voters approve this proposition, the bonds mature within 20 years and would be paid by annual excess property taxes. The average excess levy rate is estimated to be approximately $0.53 cents per $1,000 of assessed property value or, for a home with an assessed value of $400,000, approximately $212 a year ($17.67 per month). Homeowners who are 61 years or older or disabled, and who meet low-income requirements, may qualify for a property tax exemption.
