Since there are two days of the Feast of Trumpets followed by a weekly Sabbath, here is a tip for lighting candles on three consecutive nights:
Long-burning candles!
Some candles will even last 150 hours, so it's no problem, but if you have candles that burn at least twenty-four hours, but not much longer, it can still be done.
We cannot kindle a fire on Shabbat, so if we enjoy lighting candles for the high holy days and Shabbat, what do we do? Light your first long-burning candles before sundown on the first day of Trumpets with a blessing:
"Blessed are You, O Lord our God, King of the Universe, who has kept us alive, sustained us, and brought us to this season."
The next evening, light your next set of long-burning candles directly from the flame of the previous day's candles.
On Erev (weekly) Shabbat, light your Shabbat candles directly from the flame of the second night's candles and say your Shabbat blessing.
And voila! Let there be Shabbastic light!
