We hope you were able to attend the Quarterly Partner Meeting last week! We had a packed schedule, which included:


  • Announcing healthy equity as a standing priority- how do we ensure it's a part of all aspects of our work?


  • Introduction to organizations awarded the health disparities grant.
  • Breakout rooms were set up where awardees presented and shared what they intended to use the funding for. Read the full list of awardees and projects here.
  • Breakout rooms were divided by region, Central, East, and West, and were facilitated by Maricopa County Department of Public Health (MCDPH) Regional Health Equity Managers (RHEM).
  • Additionally, organizations shared barriers they faced in operation and were offered solutions by other attendees.


  • Details on the upcoming Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA), including funding opportunities centered around outreach. Timeline pictured above.


  • News about upcoming funding opportunities for health disparities community grants. Further details will be provided next month.

Climate and Health Champion

Applications for the Maricopa County Climate and Health Champions Awards are now open. This countywide recognition program identifies and celebrates local youth, individuals, businesses, and organizations that are taking steps toward implementing sustainable solutions, eco-friendly practices, or policies aimed at improving health and/or improving health equity (through the elimination of economic or social barriers to health) that are at risk of climate-sensitive hazards.

Invitation from AZDHS to impact a statewide health equity dashboard!


The Arizona Department of Health Services (AZDHS) is working to adapt an existing national tool used to address health inequities, the Social Vulnerability Index (SVI), to include Arizona-specific indicators to better reflect the needs of the community. You are invited to help identify AZ data indicators of interest to add to the tool. Please use this survey to share your insight and recommendations!

Current Steering Committee projects and tasks include:


  • Reevaluating overall Steering Committee goals and objectives
  • Continued collaboration with MCDPH to pilot the 2023 Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA)
  • Testing out a tool to develop strategies to involve more stakeholders in the Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) process
  • Recently completed the Starting Point Assessment, now developing Quality Improvement Plan
