October was full of making great memories that we know we will remember for a long time!
The kids had Fall Break, giving them an extra long weekend off from school. We decided to take advantage of this and take a trip to Texas. The kids have all mentioned at some point that they wanted to visit there and we found a great deal on an Airbnb that was too good to pass up.
We stayed in Dallas, but took a day trip down to Waco to visit the Silos and had the best time there. While there, we met up with Fredelin, one of the boys who lived in the orphanage we served at in Haiti when Reagan was a baby. He is now a married man with a baby, and residing in Texas! It was such a gift to spend the afternoon with him and reconnect.
That Sunday, we visited a home church of a friend that we met through our neighbors in Florida. God's timing is awesome...our neighbor from Florida, Andrew, happened to be visiting that weekend and led worship and preached during the service. The kids were so surprised and elated to see him, he and his family had become like family to us when we lived in Florida, and are probably what we miss the most about living there.
A few days after returning home from Texas, Laura's parents came for a visit! We don't get to see them often, so the time that we get to spend with them is precious. We took them to the beach so dad could swim in the Gulf, to a miniature train display, and to some of our favorite spots in town like the pier and ice cream spot.
Nate's 12-day trip to Peru began the day Laura's parents left.
The second half of October continued to be filled with soccer and cross-country practices, games, and meets, with some fun fall events sprinkled in between. Our neighborhood is great about hosting family events such as pumpkin decorating and a pet parade. Isaiah and his friend wore inflatable dinosaur costumes and had another friend "walk" them in the parade, haha.
The next couple of months will be filled with decorating, anticipation, festive events, and gatherings with friends and family. We pray that we keep our eyes fixed on the One for Whom we are thankful and Whose birth we celebrate, and pray the same for you.
Thank you for your continued prayers for our family, we know beyond a shadow of a doubt that our God is greater than anything the enemy throws our way! We love each of you and are so grateful for you!
