Vehicle Theft Alert
Lakeway police are urging residents to please lock your vehicles, and take your keys and personal belongings with you. This includes when you're parked in your driveway at home. Over the past two weeks, Lakeway police received reports of at least four cars that were stolen from driveways of homes in the Lakeway area, in locations from Rough Hollow to Old Lakeway. No forced entry was made into these vehicles. A simple way to deter this kind of criminal activity is to lock your doors, bring in or hide any valuables, and take your keys with you. This also includes locking your doors and windows at your home, especially when you are away from your property. Back To School Information
Students with Lake Travis ISD will be returning to class next Tuesday for the upcoming 2022/2023 school year. Here is some important information to keep in mind:

TRAFFIC SAFETY
Please be aware, traffic will likely increase in the morning and afternoon hours. It's also important to keep an extra eye out when driving near schools and being aware of school zones when they're active. Lakeway police will be stepping up enforcement near schools starting next week. Please keep within posted speed limits, and school zone speed limits when those zones are active. Also, keep an extra eye out for children who may quickly dart into traffic with little notice.

STAFFING & TRANSPORTATION
The City of Lakeway currently has one opening for a school crossing guard for the upcoming school year. CLICK HERE if you're interested in applying. Lake Travis ISD continues to hire for bus drivers for the upcoming school year as well, with pay between $23/hr. to $33.11/hr. There is currently a bus driver shortage with LTISD, causing changes to transportation services for students. CLICK HERE for important details on those changes from LTISD.

SCHOOL SAFETY & SECURITY
LTISD also sent a note out earlier this week to parents regarding safety and security. LTISD partners with local law enforcement agencies and first responders, including the Lakeway Police Department. A joint active shooter training exercise with Lakeway police, LTISD police, along with other agencies, took place a few weeks ago at Bee Cave Middle School in preparation for the upcoming school year. The area agencies will continue working together to ensure a safe school year for students, staff and the community. CLICK HERE to read more about safety and security from LTISD. LTISD also offers a Cavs Who Care Tip Line, which provides an easy and confidential way for students and parents to report bullying, harassment or other personal crisis. It allows an individual to post anonymous tips as well. CLICK HERE for more details and to connect with that form.
