Call for Artists: Temporary Public Arts Program
The Solana Beach Public Arts Commission is now accepting applications for the City's 2024-2026 Temporary Public Arts Program rotation. This is a fantastic opportunity for artists to showcase their works in a high-traffic urban and ocean-view environment, attracting both residents and tourists. Artists are invited to submit sculptures of various sizes for consideration in this two-year exhibition. The program aims to select five pieces to be displayed at highly visible, designated temporary public art sites throughout our beautiful coastal community. Selected artists will receive a $3,000 stipend for a two-year loan. The deadline to apply is Monday, September 16th, at 5:30 PM.
San Diego County Cool Zones
Beat the heat this summer at designated Cool Zone locations, including our very own Solana Beach Public Library. The San Diego County Cool Zone program offers free air-conditioned zones, like libraries and community centers, to provide relief for everyone, including seniors, persons with disabilities, and those with health concerns. These zones are designed to help residents stay safe, hydrated, and comfortable during hot weather. You can also utilize these Cool Zone sites to lower your utility usage and help conserve energy for the entire community while staying cool.
