Volunteers Needed!
We would like to offer Children's Liturgy of the Word this fall. In order to do so, we need volunteers with clearances. Training will be provided. Children’s Liturgy of the Word is about 20 minutes during the 9:30 AM mass. We explain the readings and Gospels in a way that children can understand and learn more about Jesus. Children are brought downstairs after the Introductory Rites and are then brought back upstairs before the Liturgy of the Eucharist. Please show up by 9:15 to pick up the mass book, and turn the lights on in the church hall...We have a summary for the week's Gospel which you can have ahead of time. Copies will be in the meeting room. If interested, sign up at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30e0f4caaa62aa1fd0-liturgy
RCIA
This Fall, another session is beginning for our parish R.C.I.A., which stands for the Rite of the Christian Initiation of Adults. It is a very special journey of faith for those who desire to become Catholic, including those who may have received some of their sacraments but have not completed their sacraments of initiation—Baptism, Holy Communion, and Confirmation.
For many participants, this process is a genuine gift through which they receive for the first time in their lives a deeper, adult understanding of our beautiful and rich Catholic faith. Even for the veteran R.C.I. A. team, acknowledgment is given each year that another layer of meaning and appreciation unfolds for God, His Church, and the impact our faith can have on our lives, our families, and our world.
In addition, some are unaware that in order to have their children receive the sacraments or to be eligible to be a godparent in the Catholic Church, they need to have received their own sacraments of initiation: Baptism, Holy Communion, and Confirmation. Parents are the primary educators of their children in faith and morals and the Church fulfills a supportive role in recognizing and honoring that fact.
If you feel the tug of the Holy Spirit on your heart to become Catholic or to complete your entry into the Catholic faith, please see one of our priests or contact the Adult Faith Formation Office at 484-473-8205.
