ISPE-CaSA Weekly Update
From the Board
2020-2021 - A Year to Remember
It has been a long and unique Board Year for our 2020-2021 Volunteer Board Members. Our Virtual Technology Conference and other virtual education sessions were well-attended and feedback indicated that they have been value added. Our recent Golf Tournament was also very well-attended, surpassing our expectations. We have more great events and education planned for the second half of 2021 and look forward to seeing YOU there!

As Chapter President, I want to publicly thank my Executive Board, the Directors at Large, Committee Chairs and all of the other VOLUNTEERS that make this Chapter a source of education, networking, camaraderie and support for nearly 1000 members in the CaSA Chapter! Also, our Chapter Manager has been the oil in the machine, giving us guidance, support, and continuity from year to year.

I truly appreciate the can-do attitude you brought to your roles this year and believe that the Chapter is better supported due to your efforts.

It is now time to elect the incoming Board, so please watch your inboxes for the ISPE CaSA Ballot!! Chapter Members will receive an email titled "It's Time to Cast Your Ballot to Elect ISPE-CaSA Leaders." Exercise your right to vote!

Thank you,

Rich Stanfield

Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteer for ISPE-CaSA Committees - Build Leadership Skills, Give Back and Expand Your Network
Participating on ISPE-CaSA's committees will boost your career. In addition to setting you on a leadership path in the association, you'll build your network, meet new friends and add experiences to your resume. Committee service is also a great way to give back to our industry sector.

Located outside North Carolina? There is still value in participating. Living and working in the Triangle area is not a requirement to sign up for our committees. We have the ability to reach all corners of our Chapter thanks to virtual meeting platforms. Online meetings help expand ISPE-CaSA's reach and yours too. If you would like to be more engaged with ISPE-CaSA, now is a great time to join a committee and work alongside fellow industry professionals in support of our members.

Please view our committees and select your areas of interest:

We’d like to take advantage of technology and better support EVERY member of the Chapter, but need YOUR help to do so! Please send any inquiries to info@ispecasa.org.

We look forward to hearing from you!

ISPE Publishes New Good Practice Guide -
Knowledge Management in the Pharmaceutical Industry
ISPE has published its latest Good Practice Guide. This edition covers Knowledge Management in the Pharmaceutical Industry. The bound version came out last week. Visit the ISPE website for details and to place your order.

The pharmaceutical industry has made significant progress in adopting Quality Risk Management (QRM) into systems and processes. However, the industry has been slow in implementing Knowledge Management (KM), thus missing the quality, operational, and employee engagement advantages KM practices have to offer.

The ISPE Good Practice Guide: Knowledge Management in the Pharmaceutical Industry discusses how KM can enable a more effective Pharmaceutical Quality System (PQS). The first such guidance in the pharmaceutical industry, the Guide promotes uniting KM with QRM to enable better risk-based decisions, and shows how KM can enhance nearly every element of the PQS across the product lifecycle.

The ISPE Good Practice Guide: Knowledge Management in the Pharmaceutical Industry places an emphasis on tacit knowledge – often referred to as know-how and know-why. A systematic KM program that manages tacit knowledge is a powerful tool to help maximize knowledge awareness and minimize knowledge loss that can threaten business continuity. This Guide aims to highlight the importance and impact of tacit knowledge, and where appropriate, provide KM methods and tools to better recognize, capture, transfer, and apply tacit knowledge.
