Holiday Closing
LGC offices will be closed Monday, July 4th.
We wish you a happy and safe Independence Day!
Live Chat Option
We want to encourage our NextGen Accounts Payable, Financial Management, and Payroll customers to try using our Live Chat feature on the website. Live Chat links customers to a live LGC support representative almost immediately. It essentially allows faster access to support.

We implemented this about year ago and we have had good results and feedback from the customers who use it. We resolve almost 2/3 of the requests that come in through Live Chat without having to call the customer or connect to their computer.  We are still cross training reps so that we can offer Live Chat for more of our systems.

Live Chat is available Monday – Friday 8 AM - 5 PM CST
Upgrading Soon?
Join Us For A Webinar Session!
We are excited that more and more of you are upgrading to NextGen! We realize there is a lot of information to absorb and remember during training. Our NextGen products have many advanced features that were built-in to be more efficient and ease the workload.

So as a guide to help, we offer a variety of webinars covering a wide-range of topics to give customers additional training as well as helping new hires get acquainted with our systems. You can access the webinar schedule on our website under the Training tab.

All the webinar sessions are available to any LGC customer for free using Microsoft Teams for remote training. Check them out today and in the coming weeks to see what new topics are added! To access a listing of the upcoming webinars, please visit www.localgovcorp.com, then log in with your username and password.
Sentry
(LGC's Multi-Factor Authentication Service)
LGC now offers a multi-factor authentication (MFA) service named Sentry. Sentry is powered by industry leader, Duo Security. Adding MFA to your office doesn’t have to be disruptive to your staff. Sentry is fast and easy to use!
Multi-factor Authentication (MFA) requires you to provide two or more verification factors to gain access to a resource such as an application, online account, or a VPN. MFA is a core component of a strong identity and access security policy. Rather than just asking for a username and password, MFA requires one or more additional verification factors, which decreases the likelihood of a successful cyber-attack.

It is no secret that passwords are increasingly easy to compromise. They can often be stolen, guessed, or hacked. You might not even know someone is accessing your account.

Sentry adds a second layer of security, helping to keep your account secure even if your password has been compromised. Sentry powered by Duo, helps you log in securely. You’ll use this app to approve your logins after entering your username and password on your computer. This will also allow you to be alerted right away on your mobile device if someone is trying to log in as you, giving you the ability to deny access immediately via the push notification.

Many cyber insurance carriers now have an MFA requirement in place and the remaining carriers will likely require MFA in the next few years. If your office plans to renew or purchase a cyber insurance policy, you may find MFA is a requirement for approval.

To learn more about Sentry and how it works, please take a look at this brochure. If you have any questions about Sentry or would like to request a quote, please contact LGC's Marketing Department.
Rule of 3
Segregate your backup data to protect your office. Redundant fail-safes should always be part of your data recovery strategy. A good backup strategy is to follow the rule of 3.

  1. A copy in your office
  2. A second copy in a remote location (this is typically a weekly backup)
  3. A cloud copy

If you aren’t already using LGC One Backup, please read more about it here.

*** LGC will only be processing backup verifications from the cloud. Going forward, we will no longer be accepting media from customer sites sent by mail.***
Progress In Process
If you have attended some recent conferences or corresponded with our staff via email, you may have noticed that LOCAL GOVERNMENT CORPORATION is now using “LGC” rather than LOCAL GOVERNMENT CORPORATION and has begun the process of updating our logo. While this isn’t a fast transition, it is a work in progress!

LGC has also begun the process of developing a new website! While the new website will have a great new look, it will be so much more! Here a just a few of the highlights you can expect to come:

  • Streamlined design and navigation
  • Customized user experience
  • Optimized account management features
  • Enhanced support options

We will continue to keep you well-informed with updates as we continue to make progress.
Changes To Backup Media Verification
As previously mentioned, LGC now has the ability to confirm backup data verification through LGC One Backup. Mailing copies of your office backup poses an unnecessary risk since packages can be lost, delivered to the wrong address, or even stolen.

In a continuing effort to help ensure we can continue to provide you with the level of service you have come to expect, LGC has a new policy in effect. Going forward we will provide verification on our cloud backup service only and are discontinuing our mail service. Your media will be returned to you unopened, postage due, with a signature required.

If you have any questions about this policy change, please contact LGC's Marketing Department.

Electronic Payments
Is your office ready for one vendor for software and payment collection? Take a look at the link below for more detailed information on cost-effective e-payment options offered by LGC.

Fortress
LGC now offers a Cyber security threat monitoring service named Fortress. Cyber monitoring provides real-time visibility of suspicious behavior or unauthorized system changes on your network. This puts you in the position of preventing such activity instead of just reacting to the all too real consequences, when it is too late!
