Statement regarding the Lynn MBTA Station

On July 23rd, the State Delegation, Lynn City Council, and I hosted a press availability at the Lynn MBTA Station regarding our efforts to delay the closure of the MBTA Station and for the MBTA to provide viable alternatives to our residents.

We are glad to announce that the MBTA will postpone the closure of the station to a date closer to the commencement of demolition. We remain frustrated that the MBTA has not provided further information regarding mitigation and alternatives and we will continue to advocate for our residents and the service that they deserve.

Join us for a festival of free food, music, family-friendly activities, and opportunities to connect with City departments on the initiatives that matter most to you.

Office Hours

The Mayor's Office announced our latest initiative—Office Hours for the community! We want to make the ability for our constituents to see or speak with us as easy as possible.

We encourage residents to join our monthly office hour sessions to chat with us, voice their concerns or questions, and share whatever is on their minds.

Barry Park Splash Pad

The new splash pad at Barry Park is now open! Thank you to all who helped work on this project, the Barry Park splash pad looks amazing.

"Keep Lynn Clean" Poster Winners

We are so grateful to this generation of second graders for helping us emphasize our priority to be a cleaner and greener city.

This is displayed in their winning "Keep Lynn Clean" posters, which expressed our love and care for Lynn as a City and how imperative it is to have healthy communities and push for environmental protection.

Youth Summer Workers

Now that summer is officially here, our Lynn Youth Summer Workers have taken to our neighborhoods, parks, and streets to make a difference in our community.

We are thankful for the youth summer workers, who have been working tirelessly this summer to help with our City’s goals to be cleaner and litter-free!

Fourth of July Fireworks Celebration

The City enjoyed the many awesome celebrations all over the City for the Fourth of July!

Major Accomplishments

MassBIO Rating

Three months after my office and I worked with the City Council to adopt an ordinance approving the use of recombinant DNA (rDNA) technology as part of a citywide effort to invest in the life sciences sector, the Massachusetts Biotechnology Council has upgraded Lynn to its highest level of readiness, Platinum Status.

Lynn is now one of only 37 cities and towns statewide to earn Platinum status under MassBio’s BioReady rating system, which evaluates municipalities based on zoning practices and infrastructure capacity that ease the pathway for renovation or new construction of biotech laboratory and manufacturing facilities.

ARPA Project Proposals

In July, I presented to the City Council the potential American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) Phase 1 project submissions and potential funding. These submissions were voted unanimously to allocate nearly $36 million in funding to 35 individual projects across 10 different areas such as parks, water and roads, housing, early childhood programs, public health, and public safety.

Affordable Housing Trust Fund Board of Trustees

We are currently seeking volunteer applicants who are interested in serving as trustees on the recently-established City of Lynn Affordable Housing Trust Fund (AHTF).

Trustees will oversee funds and be charged with devising a strategic plan to create more affordable housing opportunities for our residents.

Human Rights Commission

We are currently seeking volunteer applicants who are interested in serving on the Lynn Human Rights Commission.

The commission’s mission is to work towards achieving mutual respect and understanding among all individuals and groups in the City of Lynn, improving the quality of public discourse, and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The commission does this through educational programs, collaboration with community groups, and resolving complaints through negotiation.

The hours of Lynn's Senior Center have returned to Monday through Friday from 9:00AM to 3:00PM.

The State Treasurer’s Office of Economic Empowerment (OEE), in partnership with Citizens, is accepting applications for the Childcare Startup Grant program. Applications will be accepted until August 5th at 5:00PM.
