Workshop for Faculty Search Committees

The Provost's Office of Faculty Development and Diversity is sponsoring a search committee workshop, It Depends on the Lens, offering tools to diversify candidate pools, avoid cognitive biases, and engage in effective search practices. The workshop is facilitated by Yael Levitte, Associate Vice Provost for Faculty Development and Diversity, and includes a number of interactive opportunities.
The session includes a filmed scenario of a faculty search committee discussing candidates, followed by a conversation with the committee chair. Through a facilitated discussion we will unpack the scenarios, briefly examine the social science research underlying the dynamics presented in the videos and offer practical tools to address some of these dynamics.
