National Association of Counties Conference

This past weekend was special. I attended my final National Association of Counties (NACo) Conference and addressed a thousand of my colleagues from across the United States for the last time.

NACo has meant so much to me. The opportunities and learning experiences I gained have helped me grow as a person and elected official. During my NACo participation, I served as one of three Florida commissioners on the Board of Directors and as the Chair (and Vice Chair) of the Agriculture & Rural Affairs Steering Committee, the first woman and Floridian to do so. I also served on the Rural Action Caucus and the NextGen Committee Board of Directors, and served as President of the Women's Caucus. I met wonderful people, learned from them, and brought that knowledge back to help me serve my constituents.

I'm also proud to have introduced important policy positions that are now part of the NACo permanent legislative agenda platform, including language on sober homes, human trafficking, farm-to-market roads, alternative energy, and farmer/rancher suicide prevention.

At the NACo Conference, I'm also excited to share that the Palm Beach County Community Services Department received the "Best in Category" Financial Management Achievement Award for its prevention of improper client assistance payments. I'm proud of County leadership and staff for their outstanding stewardship of these funds!

Lasagna Love

In recognition of National Lasagna Day, the Palm Beach County Chapter of Lasagna Love partnered with my office to deliver 40 families in the Glades with dinner on Monday, July 25th. Lasagna Love is a nonprofit organization that seeks to positively impact communities by providing lasagna dishes to families in need. It was started at the beginning of the pandemic when the founder of Good to Mama was looking for a way to help moms in her community. Families received lasagna, salad, apple juice, and dessert.

I want to thank all of the volunteers for the wonderful difference you made for these families!
