You've Been Waiting For
Where are we now? When will we reopen? What about holiday shopping?
All of your questions answered!
(to the best of our abilities)
Renovation work is finally happening on our store! We have heard from the folks at Lamoille Housing Partnership that work is underway. (You can see the scaffolding and maybe witness some of the work yourself if you're walking by during the week.) The contractor expects that the job will be finished the second week of December, and although it had been our hope to reopen for the holiday season, this timeline makes that plan unrealistic. Instead, we are working with a goal to reopen in January - a fresh start in the new year.

While we wait to move into our renovated store, you can find us happily sharing space with The Flower Basket at 39 South Main Street, right next to our once and future bookstore. (That's the former Co-op building, in case you hadn't heard that The Flower Basket moved!) Nora, Sharon, and Nicole have been hard at work arranging their beautiful flower design studio and retail space and have created a lovely, welcoming shop. We encourage you to stop in to say hello and purchase some flowers!

When you do stop by, you'll often find one or two of The Galaxy Bookshop folks sitting in our office space, taking, placing, and processing book orders.

Our office hours remain:
Tuesday 10-1
Wednesday 2:30-5:30
Thursday 10-1
Friday 2:30-5:30
Saturday 10-1

Holiday note: We will be closed Thursday, November 24, and Friday, November 25, for Thanksgiving.

You can reach us during those times in-person or by phone or email. Outside of those hours, you can place orders online or by email.

Stay tuned for more updates, as we plan to install a gift wrap station and a small selection of holiday books, cards, calendars and stocking stuffers in our current location in the next two weeks!
Place your holiday orders now! As with all retail, there are shipping delays and items going out of stock unexpectedly in the book industry. The earlier you place your orders, the sooner you can rest, knowing that your holiday shopping is done and the folks on your gift list will have the perfect book to read.
You may have alread received an email with our annual Holiday Catalog! In case you didn't see it, find the catalog - with links to order - on our website.

Did you know that you can also create Wish Lists at galaxybookshop.com? Simply create an account, then search for the books you would like, and click "add to wish list." You can then share your wish list with others!

Buy Galaxy Bookshop Gift Certificates!
We can't wait to welcome readers to the bookstore once we open in the new year! It's been so long since anyone has been able to enjoy the bookstore experience in Hardwick, so what could be better than giving the gift of a future trip to the bookstore?

Gift certificates can be purchased in any amount, and can be used in store or online. You can stop by to buy gift certificates in person, or you can purchase them online, to be mailed to you or to the recipient.

Ross Reviews: What Fresh Hell Is This?
The title of Heather Corinna’s new book, What Fresh Hell Is This, might lead a person to think it is yet another “Trump-tell-all” tome from a reporter who covered the White House or a disgruntled staff member who is offering a mea culpa for his or her allegiance to Trump between 2016-2020. A look at the subtitle, however, indicates the assumption is in error: “Perimenopause, Menopause, Other Indignities, And You” is the topic of the book. The research offered in the 292 pages is a study that would be of interest to women. The book should also be read by men!

Men? Yes, men!.... READ MORE
Thank you to all of you who continue to shop with us, through all of the upheaval and uncertainty of the past few months. It made sense for us to cut back our hours - without a "real" store, we can't cover payroll for a full seven day week. However, our shortened hours and moving locations has resulted in delays in orders. We greatly appreciate your patience and continued support as we work to keep the bookstore going until we can be fully back in business.
