June 27 - July 1, 2022 | 2022 Africa Conference on Sexual Health and Rights (Freetown, Sierra Leone)
The 10th Africa Conference on Sexual Health and Rights will convene this June under the theme “Accelerating the elimination of sexial and gender-based violence in Africa.” Featuring over 40 sessions as a part of the 3 day program, ACSHR will highlight topics including bodily autonomy, sexual and gender based violence, and justice. July 29 – August 2, 2022 | AIDS 2022 (Virtual + Montreal, Canada)
Registration for AIDS 2022, the 24th International AIDS Conference, is now open. For the first time, the world’s largest conference on HIV and AIDS will be hosted both virtually and in-person, in order to make it accessible to as many people as possible. Pre-conference meetings begin July 27, 2022. Register for this conference here.
August 29 – September 2, 2022 | Joint Australasian HIV&AIDS + Sexual Health Conferences (Sunshine Coast, Australia)
For 30 years the Joint Australasian HIV&AIDS Conference, the leading HIV conference in Australasia, has brought together delegates from Australia, New Zealand, Asia, and the Pacific. The HIV&AIDS Conference runs in conjunction with the Australasian Sexual Health Conference, and is delivered in collaboration with The Australasian Sexual and Reproductive Health Alliance (ASRHA). June 28, 2022 | Accelerating access to long-acting HIV prevention and treatment formulations and delivery platforms: Challenges and opportunities
The International AIDS Society and Medicines Patent Pool have partnered for this three part roundtable series to discuss how to advance the introduction and scale up of long-acting technologies for HIV treatment and prevention in low- and middle-income countries. The upcoming third and final session on June 28, 2022 16:00-17:30 CET is entitled “Pathways to timely, quality-assured, affordable and available long-acting formulations and delivery platforms at scale.” Access previous discussions here and register for the final session here.
June 30, 2022 | Patenting and Intellectual Property Considerations for HIV Prevention & MPTs
This upcoming webinar in the “Let’s Talk MPTs” discussion series will be held in partnership between the Initiative for MPTs (IMPT) and Microbicide R&D to Advance HIV Prevention Technologies through Responsive Innovation and eXcellence (MATRIX). The webinar will provide a valuable opportunity to hear from MPT and HIV prevention product developers and other experts on the following topics related to intellectual property and patenting considerations necessary for bringing MPTs and HIV prevention products to market. Resources to Advance Pediatrics and HIV Prevention Science
The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases at the National Institutes for Health places a high priority on HIV prevention and treatment strategies, especially for children, pregnant and breastfeeding women. This IDIQ funding opportunity will provide scientists with research materials and preclinical product development support for candidate HIV therapeutics or prevention products, including MPTs that combine HIV prevention with contraceptives. In addition, funding from this contract will support preclinical research, pediatric formulations, and non-vaccine biomedical interventions in particular. Women’s Health Innovation Spotlight: Expanded Innovation Showcase
The Women’s Health Innovation Summit will offer 24 start-ups leading the future of the women’s health industry the opportunity to present to investors and industry leaders through the Women’s Health Innovation Spotlight. Applications for this exciting opportunity are due August 5, 2022.
MATRIX CaSE Program
CAMI Health, housed at the Public Health Institute, is excited to partner with the Aurum Institute and Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) as co-leads of CaSE (Capacity Strengthening and Engagement (CaSE) Fellowship Program). The overall goal of CaSE is to enhance capacity and technical skills of scientists and institutions in sub-Saharan Africa in alignment with technical and strategic areas prioritized by MATRIX. MATRIX (Microbicide Research and Development (R&D) to Advance HIV Prevention Technologies through Responsive Innovation and Excellence) is a recently launched USAID funded 5-year program aimed to develop a range of HIV prevention products that are acceptable, affordable, scalable and deliverable by providing a platform for efficient, benchmark-driven portfolio management.
