Photos of the Week: Thursday we celebrated our first All School Mass of the year, and were blessed to have Bishop Peter Christensen celebrating Mass with us! The BK Campus Ministers, Pastoral Arts Students did an outstanding job with the first Mass of the school year, and our student body did an excellent job of showing reverence and participating in Mass. Great job Knights! After Mass we kicked off our 60th Anniversary year with a reception on Lachiondo Plaza. Happy Birthday BK! Thank you to all of our Alumni, Parents, and Community Members who joined us for this very special day.

A Note From Bill and Sarah

Dear BK Families,

Student Progress Conferences (also known as Parent Teacher Conferences) are coming up.

  • Wednesday, Oct. 2 conferences will be held in-person at Bishop Kelly High School
  • Wednesday, Oct. 9 conferences will be held on Zoom

If you would like to meet with one of your student's teachers, you will need to sign up for a time slot. This applies to both in-person time slots, and online time slots.

The primary purpose of the conferences is to help students that are currently off track, are academically struggling, or have specific needs that need to be addressed through a conference with a teacher. We encourage students to participate in their conferences, but it is not required.

Please be mindful that these conferences are specifically for students needing extra support, and each meeting is limited to 8 minutes. While we aim to accommodate as many families as possible, time slots are limited. If you are unable to schedule a slot, please contact the teacher directly to arrange a separate meeting.

Wednesday, October 2- In Person from 4:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Wednesday, October 9- Online from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Click the buttons below to register for a timeslot for one or more teachers.

God Bless, and Go Knights!

Bill Avey

President

Sarah Quilici

Principal

Knights of the Week

Evelyn Quilici

Faith

Evelyn exemplifies the BK Way of FAITH.  Evelyn asks very thoughtful questions and is a leader in her small faith team in the classroom.  She is actively involved in her faith formation and works with others to help them as well.

Cori McGiff

Activities

Cori has dedicated herself to BK Theatre Arts in ways that have been incredibly helpful but go unseen - she deserves tremendous acknowledgement of her contributions.  Over the summer, Cori (with 2 other seniors) spent something like 25 hours BEYOND her senior service project requirements to completely sort and organize all of BK Theatre costumes - a monumental task. In theatre productions, she is generous, hardworking, positive and contributes far beyond what her role or job requires.  She supports BK Theatre with her spirit, mind, and body!

Ella Sheppard

Generosity

Ella always goes far above and beyond when it comes to her efforts for BK Theatre Arts. She goes the extra mile to help newcomers and do more than her "job" for theatre productions ( doing costumes, props, typing charts and scripts, etc.) And she's dislocated various parts of her body in service of BK Theatre productions something like 9 times - that's dedication and generosity.

Mr. Pannell

Faith

Mr. Pannell (or Mr. Rob) is our BK Staff of the Week because although we haven't been in school for very long, he has already taught students so much about the Catholic faith.  He likes to tell his students life stories that apply to what they are learning, and it helps them to see things from a new perspective. He is always open to questions and has deep theological answers to all of them. He is kind and caring, and he helps to make theology a favorite class for students because they learn so much while having fun.

Attendance Office Procedures - please read as some of this information is new this year.

  • Parents are asked to email the school’s Attendance Office before 9:30am on the day a student will be absent from class for all or part of the school day due to an illness or an appointment. That email is attendance@bk.org
  • Bishop Kelly is a closed campus.  This means that students who have professional appointments may leave and return back to campus with a doctor's note or other documentation excusing the absence.  If a parent chooses to check out a student for a non-professional or non-medical reason, then the student will be checked out for the rest of the day.  The student may not return to school that day unless they have a doctor's note or other professional documentation. Our goal is to limit classroom disruptions and maintain the academic integrity of the classroom.  This may affect activity eligibility for the day.
  • Students must sign-out at the Attendance window when they leave campus during the school day, and sign back in at the Attendance Window with documentation when they return.
