Thanks to Paul White, one of the state's law enforcement liaisons, we're sharing some stats from this year's Click It or Ticket national law enforcement mobilization. There continues to be room for improvement to get back to pre-COVID participation, so this year's results were somewhat mixed.
Compared to 2021 there was an increase in the number of departments participating (towns, sheriffs, VSP), total hours worked, motorists contacted, and criminal arrests for serious motor vehicle offenses (DLS, DUI, Neg Op, etc.). However, there was a decrease in patrol events (task force details) and tickets issued. Here's the numeric breakdown:
- Total number of saturation patrols and checkpoints: 242
- Total number of vehicles contacted: 5,033
- Total number of seatbelt tickets: 92
- Total number of CPS tickets: 11
- Total number of speeding tickets: 771
- Total number of texting or H/H device tickets: 64
- Total number of other tickets: 506
- Total number of arrests: 113
- Total number of hours worked: 2,707
