ECC celebrates new students on Signing Day

Forty Edgecombe County high school seniors recently declared their intention to attend Edgecombe Community College in the fall. The college honored the students at ECC Signing Day held at high schools in May. Signing Day is a national initiative to celebrate students for making a commitment to higher education.

Rural College Broadband funds received

The college has received nearly $20,000 in Rural College Broadband funds that will strengthen IT infrastructure and provide network security enhancements. These funds were made available by the State Board of Community Colleges, which recently approved the additional grant funding to support rural community colleges.

ECC Night at the Tarboro River Bandits

The Rev. Jerry Spruell, chair of the ECC Board of Trustees, threw the first pitch to kick off ECC Night at a recent Tarboro River Bandits baseball game. He was among the college’s students, employees, alumni, and friends who cheered on the home team during ECC Night held in June at Tarboro Municipal Stadium. Shown with Rev. Spruell are college mascot Eddie the Eagle and ECC President Dr. Greg McLeod.

Bicycle group supports students

The Biker Girls of Tarboro recently donated two bicycles to ECC’s Student Bicycle Program, which supports students who have transportation needs. The Biker Girls was founded in July 2020 with the goal of promoting exercise and social interaction through bicycling. To donate a bike, please contact bottomst@edgecombe.edu.
