September 2024 Newsletter

Dear Generation,

Welcome fall! We're keeping things short and focused on three key opportunities to make a big impact and help shape the future of housing in the North Bay—and we need YOU!

  • We invite you to join us on October 11 for the 2024 North Bay Housing Solutions Summit—a gathering of local leaders and advocates working together for transformative housing solutions. Early Bird Pricing is available now through September 27, and Generation Housing members enjoy special rates! Scholarships are also available. For questions regarding scholarships, membership codes, or sponsorships, please email info@generationhousing.org. More information about our summit is below.

  • And with November right around the corner, we urge you to vote Yes on Proposition 5. This will allow communities to approve affordable housing and infrastructure bonds with a 55% vote, ensuring transparency, accountability, and citizen oversight. Join us for our October House Party - Housing on the Ballot: Your Questions Answered to learn more.

Together, we can create a more affordable, resilient North Bay!

2024 North Bay Housing Solutions Summit

The time is NOW. The power is YOU.

Keynote Address:

Michael Tubbs

Former Mayor of Stockton, CA; Founder and Chair of Mayors for a Guaranteed Income (MGI); Founder of End Poverty In California (EPIDC); author of the memoir, The Deeper the Roots, currently serving as the Special Advisor to California Governor Gavin Newsom for Economic Mobility and Opportunity

Feature Panels:

Panel: Can Local Policy Move the Housing Needle? A panel from Minneapolis, Minnesota, which has leveraged local solutions to spur a 12% increase in housing production in just six years, featuring Councilmember Jeremiah Ellison, Tram Hoang with PolicyLink, Andrea Riehl from Neighbors for More Neighbors, and Jeremy Schroeder, former City Councilmember and former chair of the Minneapolis Zoning and Planning Committee; moderated by Jennifer Palmer.

Panel: Lessons from the Marriage Equality Movement

Todd Delmay, lead plaintiff in the lawsuit that led to marriage equality, in conversation with Oscar Chavez, and Alina Harway. This panel will discuss ways to apply lessons from the marriage equality movement to catalyze pro-housing public and political will.

A working lunch with a panel of multifamily housing developers moderated by Housing Trust Silicon Valley CEO, Noni Ramos, to answer the question: What local policies would attract you to develop in North Bay jurisdictions?

For leaders, advocates, and community members: a facilitated working lunch for attendees to engage with each other and Generation Housing team to learn how best to amplify their stakeholders’ needs and stories and critical Gen H messaging.
