Tom Cunningham’s “Farm and Vine”
Oil on Primed Canvas
|

Dear Friends of the Arts,
|
|
Our month of Broad Ideas has gone by all too fast, including transformative performances and artwork, as well as a lot of fun. Thanks to the Broads planning committee and all who participated.
We are now welcoming new art to share with you at our opening on March 31. It always feels a bit like Christmas when our artists bring in their new work…so many surprises, so many moments when the first glimpse of the art takes our breath away. Our special exhibit featuring Tom Cunningham’s wonderful landscapes is a highlight and will inspire you with the beauty of Jo Daviess County.
So much more is coming this month, from a presentation about the British Coronation, to information about karst, to Songwriters Showcase music, to theatre. Rehearsals have begun for Dracula, a Comedy of Terrors!, and we are having a hoot putting it together. Don’t miss it; we promise an evening of laughter.
I wish you a happy spring, filled with renewal!

A change of seasons invites a change of scenery, as we welcome new art into the Center! Our main gallery will hold An Eclectic Mix of artwork, inspired by anything and everything, while the special exhibit space will display a Tom Cunningham Retrospective. His legacy remains through the many beautiful and colorful landscapes of Jo Daviess County he has captured with brush, paint and canvas. Through the generosity of Tom and his wife Susan, many of his works will be available for purchase (with proceeds donated to the Center) so that they may be enjoyed and treasured by others.

An opening reception is planned for Friday, March 31 from 5-7pm. Refreshments available. Admission is free; donations are appreciated. The exhibits will be open to the public from 11am-4pm Thursdays through Sundays through May 28, 2023. We look forward to seeing you there!

We occasionally need substitute helpers to deliver posters to local businesses. Might you be available?
|
|
Time to get involved! We still need greeters for the gallery and volunteers to help with serving at openings, ushering at music and theatre events, garden maintenance, painting, and more!
If you would like to help out as a greeter, please go to
Signupgenius.com and scroll down to choose the dates you would like to help. It’s not hard, and it’s so much fun to meet other art lovers and show off our wonderful new space. For other volunteer opportunities, email Carole.
Thanks so much!
