[In Person] Film Screening and Discussion with Producer James Egan: Wild About Harry (United States, 2009)
Wednesday, June 29
7pm
Set in 1973 and inspired by the true-life events of co-writer and director Gwen Wynne, Wild About Harry tells the story of the havoc that is wreaked in a teenage girl's life when she discovers her widowed father is gay. The film captures the homophobia of the time set against a backdrop of small-town America on Cape Cod, and utilizes emblematic music expressing the artistic and experimental freedom of the early 70s.

Alternately funny and heartbreaking, this thought-provoking family comedy is as relevant today as it was in the 1970s when America was in the midst of social upheaval as it redefined the meaning of love and family.

We will be joined by James Egan, producer of the film, and his husband Dan Perdios, author of A Golden Retriever and His Two Dads: An Adventure on Cape Cod, which chronicles working on the set of Wild About Harry.

This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Edgartown Free Public Library.
