The Fifth Sunday of Lent.
March 26, 2023
Greetings!

This week's article is written Father John Hoang.

In this article, I put a video link on YouTube showing my existence here in the Catholic faith. I made this video six years ago when I was blessed to spend a semester in the Holy Land to study about the faith in a deeper way. I was in my third year of theology and able to experience the Palestinians and Jewish people in this country..

Please join us for the final session in the Lenten Speaker Series on March 30. Diana Macalintal will present The Triduum's Hidden Treasures. The Paschal Triduum happens only once a year, and its highpoint is a once-in-a-lifetime event. Discover three ritual treasures of the Triduum that every Catholic should know and how they can strengthen how you live your faith throughout the entire year.

Rite of Christian Initiation

 Pray for our Elect

That our Elect, like Lazarus, be unbound from burdens or sins that keep them from seeing Jesus for who he really is,the Messiah, their Savior, the one who offers them eternal life.

Name Badges

May I please ask you to wear your name badges. This will help new parishioners and guests get to know us. Additionally, there will be more people attending Mass during Holy Week and I believe it would be a nice gesture of hospitality to wear our name badges. If you need a new one please visit our website to request one. If additional information is need, please contact Mary Sparacino at mary.sparacino@dsj.org or Nellie Dominguez at nellie.dominguez@dsj.org.

Nicaragua Mission Trip 2023

We are so excited to have so many missionaries already registered to travel to Nicaragua on behalf of our parish this summer. There has been so much enthusiasm that we’ve decided to leave our registration open a little bit longer. Hopefully, this extra time will allow those of you who were waiting to finalize your summer plans to join us to work and serve alongside our friends in Nicaragua.

Registration is now open through Saturday, April 1, 2023, or until we reach capacity.

The slides from the information meeting are available on the Mission Trip Webpage, and so is the registration link. For questions, please send an email to hs.amigos@yahoo.com.

Holy Spirit Sacred Heart Saturdays!

Set aside some time to volunteer on Saturday's Sacred Heart! Sacred Heart provides food, clothing and critical resources for our neighbors in need. This photo is from the first session on February 25th. We had 10 parishioners who worked in the clothes closet setting up the store for Saturday and hanging clothes to stock the store for the week!

Sign-ups are now available for April, click here to reserve your spot!

Survival Sack Ministry

Holy Spirit Parish has administered the Survival Sack Program at the Sacred Heart Community Center for the past number of years. We gather on the first and third Thursdays of the month from 8:30-10:30 to distribute Survival Sacks to those who are registered as homeless and living on the streets of San Jose (usually to about 25 individuals each distribution day). Homeless clients may pick up a Survival Sack once every three months. The backpacks contain a small blanket, socks, underwear, large hygiene kit, gloves, hats, toilet paper, water bottle, and so forth. Also available are large tarps (donated by Holy Spirit Church).

If you are over the age of 18 and are interested in volunteering in this ministry, please contact either Tom Burgei or Patty O’Neil at tnburgei@gmail.com or call 408-504-0909 and we will speak to you about volunteer opportunities.
