Zebrafish Husbandry Workshop at Aquaculture America 2017

This year the workshop is going in new and exciting directions!
  • We are pleased to announce our keynote speaker, Dr. Richard Borowsky of New York University, preeminent in the use of Mexican cavefish for evolutionary studies. In the past 10 years, use of the cavefish as a research model has grown exponentially, and Dr. Borowsky will provide an overview of the history and benefits. To continue the theme and tie in with the host city of San Antonio, Dr. Dante Fenolio, the Vice President of Conservation and Research at the San Antonio Zoo, will speak on his work with cavefish from Texas, China, and Mexico.
  • The NIH Office of Research Infrastructure Programs (ORIP) will be participating at the workshop in an interactive community meeting discussing the affect of environmental issues on research results. ORIP is working to develop a path of action towards understanding, standardizing and reporting environmental parameters in animal models and is looking forward to the input from the aquatics (and zebrafish in particular) users with practical experience in this area.
  • New this year: Noise, Vibration, and Aquatic Animals
