Cultivating a Collection

Jen Webb, the Bibliographic Services Manager, oversees the Cary Library's collection of books, movies, music and more in its many forms: print, DVDs, CDs, and even items from the Library of Things. Need a cookbook in print format? Talk to Jen. It is one of her special areas of interest.

It's a Team Effort

Collections are a team effort with many staff involved in the process. Recommendations for new titles come from many sources -- NPR, podcasts, review journals, and even TikTok. Suggestions from library patrons are particularly welcome, as the library wants to ensure its collection reflects the wide-ranging interests of our community.

Read It Now

Once new items are received, they are first directed to patrons who have placed reserves on them. If a book is in high demand, Jen will order extra copies for the “Read It Now” section, where current books are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

A shout-out to the Friends of Cary Library for supporting this program!

From the Board

It is so exciting that Cary Library has reopened its door to in-person programming. Sitting among friends and neighbors at the Library after two long years is a wonderful way to reset this spring. While attending programs remotely might be convenient, the vitality and community energy experienced at in-person events cannot be replicated remotely. From award winning documentaries to popular author talks, there is something for everyone. I hope to see you all at Cary Library soon.
