Let’s talk, read, and sing about SUMMER! When you talk, read, and sing with your child—even before she can use words—you’re building her brain and helping to prepare her for success in school and in life. 

Talking is Teaching has tips and resources to help parents talk to their children, even those who are very young.

Share kindness every day! This summer, write a poem on a sheet of paper with your little one about what kindness means to your family. Then, decorate the paper with fun summer
doodles!

Turn a warm day into an opportunity for an easy science experiment. Take an ice cube out of the freezer and put it in a cup. Ask, “What do you think will happen if we bring this ice cube outside?”

Bay County Library System's LENA Start is a FREE 10-week class for families with children ages birth to 36 months old. The goal of the program is to help parents increase talk, which encourages their babies' literacy and brain growth.

You and your child can explore STEM in the Great Lakes Bay Region (GLBR) with our new mobile app. The Great Lakes Bay Region STEM Passport is a learning resource for 19 different hands-on, dynamic STEM organizations in the community. Now locating them is easy! The app is a great resource to access information about current STEM-based activities and events in the region.

Summer is full of opportunities to play and learn and we want to make it easy to find inspiring, kid-friendly activities! That’s why we’ve worked with PBS stations and content creators from across the country to bundle up some of our favorite activities into one, easy-to-carry-anywhere book. We hope you and your kids will use this to inspire learning all summer long!
