A lot goes into running a food bank.

For those of you who have volunteered or visited us in person, you know our warehouse is a busy place. From the sourcing of fresh and non-perishable items to transportation, storage, processing and distribution; we're always in motion.

But sometimes it's important to take a pause to reflect on where we are and where we're going.

This week, Derek Smith sat down with Joel Katz of Magic 98.3's Joel and Maryann in the Morning for a special "Meet the Executive Director" presentation. The conversation was an in-depth look at the current state of food insecurity in our community as well as an exploration of how Franklin Food Bank is adapting today to meet future needs.

As a valued stakeholder, you'll not want to miss this fascinating glimpse into our work and the people we serve. Derek tells our story with purpose and passion- and it's remarkable to hear what we're accomplishing together and how Franklin Food Bank remains a beacon in these tumultuous times. Did you know, in Somerset County, the minimum household income to cover only the most basic necessities is $118,000? There are parts of Franklin Township where the average household income is $40,000. With inflation, rising food and gas prices the chasm for those struggling will only grow wider.

It's because of your commitment, generosity and encouragement that we can continue to make great strides in providing the most we can to as many as possible in our community. Thank you for being part of this remarkable story and for continuing with us in the next chapter.
