The problem: You recently lost files stored on your desktop and don't want to make that mistake again. But where can you store files so they are secure, backed up, and can be shared with your colleagues?

The solution: Use FGCU's OneDrive file storage solution to store and share needed files.

In today's issue, we cover all things OneDrive to understand the benefits and reasons for using the Cloud storage location, and why it's important to switch over to it if you haven't already.

Why use OneDrive:

At FGCU, use OneDrive to sync files between your computer and the Cloud, to get to your files from anywhere - your desktop computer via the desktop client, your mobile device via the OneDrive app, or even by logging into Webmail - enabling you to store and share needed files. This secure file storage location also gets backed up nightly, which means that if you lose a file, it can be restored!

How is OneDrive set up:

Click ITS KB > Share Folders and Network Storage at FGCU to learn more.

How to use OneDrive:

Click ITS KB > Sync Files with OneDrive on Windows or Mac to learn more.

Click ITS KB > Upload and Save Files and Folders to OneDrive Web to learn more.

How to access:

Access the OneDrive Sign-in using your "work or school account".

*Note: Do not store Restricted Data on OneDrive.

Bottom line: OneDrive is a secure place to store FGCU files and share files (seamless collaboration) with peace of mind knowing it's backed up nightly.

MS Word Acronyms feature to retire September

The Acronyms feature in Microsoft Word will retire on September 11, 2024. After this date, the feature won't be accessible from the References tab on the ribbon or the Acronyms section in the Editor pane on the right of the screen. This change applies to Word for Windows and on the web.

Microsoft occasionally retires redundant features and benefits to similar options such as the Search feature in Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and Bing for Work.
