Updates on the Lexington Public Schools from Superintendent Dr. Julie Hackett:
New LPS Administrators
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Update
LPS Administrators' Retreat, 2021 - We continue to focus our efforts on diversity, equity, and inclusion. This year, the Admin. Council (principals and district leaders) had two retreats: Part I focused on reflection, meaning making, and learning as it relates to the pandemic. Part II focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion and setting our intentions for the challenging work in the year ahead.
Central Office DEI Summer Workshop Series - To continue our learning around diversity, equity and inclusion efforts at Central Office, Johnny Cole, Director of Equity and Student Supports and Caitlin Ahern, Director of Professional Learning and Special Projects developed a menu of workshops facilitated by LPS staff members for July and August. These topics were specifically selected based on the questions and thoughts that came up during the CO film debriefing of I’m Not Racist...Am I?
LPS COVID-19 Update
On August 2, 2021, I sent this COVID-19 Back-to-School Letter to the community, outlining back-to-school protocols. The health and safety protocols noted in the letter were developed in collaboration with the Lexington Board of Health Chairperson and our Director of School Health Services.
