Dear Friends of The Blue Purl,

In Real Life.
We want to see you IRL. We want to talk to you IRL. We want to take classes with you IRL. We want to live in real life, again.

The word for the pandemic was languishing. It was how we felt, not so much depressed as worn out.

We are done with that. And we believe you are, too.
The weather is nice. Summer is beckoning. And thankfully many of us have been vaccinated. The pandemic is easing up. Masks are optional.

In Real Life, baby.
We are (almost) back.

To be clear, we still all need to be mindful. Not everyone has been or even wants to be vaccinated. Many of us are still wearing masks. There is also the reality of this horrid virus, which we have not yet seen the last of.

But right now, we are so happy to see some of your smiles. We are happy to have more people in the shop, classes gathered around the tables.
Zoom is as zoom was.

In Real Life, baby.
Yes, we’d like you to come to the shop, but you might just want to go out and take a walk. As spring transitions to summer, have you noticed the beauty that is around us? We won’t trot out the tired cliché “stop and smell the roses,’’ but hey, why not stop and take a sniff?

Lose yourself in the stately and quiet elegance of two color gardens. Soak up the simple beauty of a landscape swept in white blossoms, and deep greenery.
It is all there for you, for us. Come back. Step out. It may feel scary at first or take some readjustment. We think we might be able to help there, too. The Blue Purl team is here to help, anyway we can. We are all so grateful that you stuck with us through these difficult days, we want to give back. And we want to do it In Real Life.

So come back.
We are here to help.
In Real Life.

What's New?
Smoke
Yiba has been busy working on her summer. And by summer, we mean her summer projects! She recently finished Smoke by Yumiko Alexander using just 2 skeins of DanDoh Cotton Fine for the small size. This elegant lace top is knit flat in 2 pieces with a simple boxy shape & optional scoop neck. The pattern is available on Ravelry and DanDoh Cotton Fine is online or in the store.
Sandcastle
Check out Patty's niece modeling our latest shop sample! Sandcastle by Jamie Thomas, is a simple top down poncho sized from baby to child. Zoe is 6 years old & wearing it for cool lakeside weather. Patty made hers with Sandnes Garn Alpakka Ull. We pulled together some of our favorite color combos below. There are so many more possibilities. The pattern is available for purchase on Ravelry and the yarn is in the shop or online.
Hope Summer Top
Judy knitted up the Hope Summer Top for the shop! We've admired the ones she made for her daughter in Blue Sky Organic Cotton. Very hip, and we love it! Thanks Judy!
Cancun Boxy Lace Top
Wendy knitted up an old favorite, Cancun Boxy Lace Top by E. Kate Archer, in Sandnes Garn Line. This simple boxy top is great for the young & the young at heart. Tam & her daughter styled it their own way to show a few possibilities. The pattern is free from us and Sandnes Garn Line is available in the shop or online. This is just two rectangles sewn together - no shaping! Super accessible!
Yokester
Yokester by Hanna Maciejewska reminds us of lovely summer walks in the gardens with its open, airy yoke and loose fit. The pattern has options for long sleeves and a tighter fit. We like the breeziness of a comfortable lightweight top, especially knit up in Shibui Pebble, a light fingering weight blend of silk, wool & cashmere. The pullover is knit top down, seamless with an open wide yoke and a unique asymmetrical ribbing detail at the hem. Shibui Pebble's stitch definition is perfect to show off the unique hem line. Find the patter on Ravelry and Shibui Pebble is available in the store and online.
Yarn Re-stock!
Isager Alpaca 2
We just received a large restock of Isager Alpaca 2. This light fingering alpaca merino blend is great for your warm weather projects with colors to inspire. We love it in light airy wraps for evenings out or lightweight tops for year round wear. Ask us for ideas on your next visit. The yarn is available in store and online.
Baah La Jolla
Baah's June color of the month is here and ooh- all we can think of are beautiful summer waterlilies. If a watercolor could be made into a skein of yarn, this is it. Maybe the Baah dyers were inspired by Monet for this month. We have a limited number of skeins, available online or in the shop.
Summer Reading
Pom Pom Quarterly, Issue 37 is here. This summer issue has fingering, sport & DK weight tops for both knitting & crochet. Designed with lots of modern texture, the patterns can be viewed in Ravelry. The magazine is available online or in the shop.

One of our favorites from this issue is Lodestar by Kjerstin Rovetta. This pullover is knit in DK weight, top down with modern geometric lace work at the yoke.

Amirisu, Summer 2021, Issue 22 is also open for preorders! It's like they know we want to plan our summer trips & need reading material for daydreams. This issue is about layers, with lace & eyelets or with multiple colors & textures. We won't be able to travel to Japan but this issue has a guide on Okinawa for daydream tours. You can preorder your copy of Amirisu online or in the shop. The magazine will be available on June 10th.
A couple patterns from Issue 22 pictured above - Nigella by Kate Gagnon Osborne - a elegant shawl with just 3 skeins of sport weight Kelbourne Andorra and Leila by Nataliya Sinelshchikova made with Woolfolk Flette and Tov DK. Loving those sleeves!
