Dear Friend, March 13, 2021
What a deep joy it is to serve as your Director of Disciples Refugee and Immigration Ministries (RIM). I am very thankful to work in partnership with you and every faith partner in our ministries to welcome immigrants and refugees and to advocate for their rights in our communities and as a nation. I am writing to ask that you help our vital ministries of RIM by making a gift to Disciples Refugee and Immigration Ministries, a ministry of Disciples Home Missions.
Your gifts support work that has already begun to build new hope and repair our long heritage of welcome for refugees who have lost their homeland. It will join you to express God’s love as we prioritize efforts to reunite children with their parents, seek safe and legal pathways and protections for immigrant neighbors, fight unjust deportations, restore protections in asylum processing, and improve safety and conditions for migrants at the border.
Your gifts enable us to multiply our advocacy together with DACA and TPS recipients who need the promise of protection . In addition, I am excited that in 2021 we celebrate both the conclusion of the 40-year anniversary of the US Refugee Act of 1980 and the beginning of our 50th year of Disciples partnership with the National Farm Worker Ministry.
As we pursue our work in this new and more hopeful year, we look forward to your prayers and advocacy as well as your financial support. Thank you for joining me in your support of RIM. As we go forward, I cannot wait to work with you in this year of promise and hope!
And, we pray you are continuing to join us in Lenten reflections on sacred texts and immigration values through faith devotions here:
