The Tampa Bay Environmental Restoration Fund (TBERF) is a competitive grants program that supports projects which implement the water quality improvement, habitat restoration, applied research, and education priorities of the Tampa Bay Estuary Program and its partners. We work with Restore America’s Estuaries (RAE) to encourage local and national contributions from the public and private sectors in order to achieve measurable conservation outcomes for the protection and restoration of Tampa Bay. This year, TBERF is excited to announce its support for 7 projects that will aid in accomplishing the goals of our Program and the overall health of Tampa Bay.

BASIS7-ANEP Rescheduled for Spring 2022 |
|
On Friday, September 3rd, 2021, TBEP Executive Director Ed Sherwood announced to our partners and stakeholders that the BASIS7-ANEP Conference Steering Committee had reached a consensus on postponing BASIS7-ANEP, originally planned for this October until Spring 2022.
We believe this decision will allow us to maximize in-person attendance, solicit additional abstracts/student posters to further round-out the anticipated program, and ultimately create a safer, more inclusive space for the sharing of cutting-edge science, research, education, management and policy findings.

Are you an educator or part of a local community organization with an idea for a restoration or educational project in Tampa Bay? The Tampa Bay Estuary Program is now accepting project applications for the Bay Mini-Grants program! Bay Mini-Grants are competitive awards (up to $5,000) offered to community groups with projects that help improve Tampa Bay. Project proposals must address at least one of Tampa Bay Estuary Program’s goals: water quality, habitat restoration, invasive species, public education, fish and wildlife enhancement. This year, priority will be given to proposals that expand the use of Green Infrastructure Practices.

How to Celebrate National Estuaries Week
National Estuaries Week (NEW) is a nationwide celebration of our bays and estuaries and the many benefits they provide to local communities. Tampa Bay is Florida’s largest open-water estuary, so naturally, we’ve got a lot to celebrate.
Here are a few ways you can get involved this year (September 18th - 25th, 2021).

#LoveTampaBay Needs Your Videos! |
Since its inception, the #LoveTampaBay hashtag campaign has collected over 6,500 tags, encouraging folks to share the many ways in which jobs, art, science and community depend upon a healthy bay. For our 30th, we’re going to take it one step further with a #LoveTampaBay video!
How to participate:
- Use your phone to film a short clip (15 - 30 seconds) showing us how you #LoveTampaBay. Bonus points if it hits on one of the 4 categories: jobs, art, science, and community.

Sarasota Bay Estuary Program “Tidy Island Volunteer Planting” (Sept 25th)
New College of Florida and the Sarasota Bay Estuary Program seek volunteers to help plant native plants on Tidy Island, a large mangrove peninsula in upper Sarasota Bay. Please note that for safety reasons, this event is for volunteers age 10 and up.

The Center for Watershed Protection, Inc. is now accepting abstracts from those interested in presenting at the 2022 National Watershed & Stormwater Conference. The Conference will take place Monday, April 25th – Thursday, April 28th.
NOAA has several nationwide, competitive funding opportunities for marine debris projects, including removal, prevention, and research grants.
Tampa Bay Water offers the Source Water Protection Mini-grant Program with $30,000 in grant money available to help fund projects and events by local community groups, nonprofit groups, schools, and universities. Applications for the 2022 grant cycle are due by 5 p.m. on November 12, 2021.

About the Tampa Bay Estuary Program
The Tampa Bay Estuary Program is an intergovernmental partnership dedicated to restoring and protecting Tampa Bay, Florida's largest open-water estuary. The TBEP is one of 28 "Estuaries of National Significance" designated by Congress.
Our Policy Board is comprised of representatives from Hillsborough, Manatee, Pasco and Pinellas counties; the cities of Tampa, St. Petersburg and Clearwater; the Southwest Florida Water Management District; the Florida Department of Environmental Protection; and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
