An Outstanding Wild, Wonderful Ark Vacation Bible School!
Thank you to all the kids who participated in VBS this past week, their families, all our volunteers [youth and adult] and our great VBS Director, Sarah Sailor. The outdoor “home bases” for each crew along with the activity areas of music, games, crafts, Bible stories, scavenger hunt, assembly and snack time had the kids excited about what they were able to be a part of each morning. This Sunday our onsite special music will feature our VBS kids singing songs via video. Sarah will provide more details about this year’s VBS in the weeks to come.

Welcome to Greg & Paula Huffaker
Greg and Paula Huffaker are moving from Texas, and will celebrate their 51st Anniversary on July 17th. They are blessed by having both of their children and families in Evergreen: Alex and Bryan Rose with children Evy and Wyatt; and John and Kira Huffaker with children Johnny and James.
Greg was employed by Sears for nearly 33 years, in the areas of Controller, Cash Management, and Treasury. During his career, he and Paula made their home in Tulsa, OK, Ft. Smith, AR, Wichita, KS, Chicago, IL, and Dallas, TX. During these years Paula worked in Human Resources and taught private piano, but always paralleled with work in the church in the areas of Music, Children’s Choirs, After-School Program Coordinator, and Pastor’s Admin.
Greg and Paula like to spend time with family and travel. Greg enjoys painting and photography. Paula enjoys music, and being crafty with the grandkids. Both enjoy reading, and are enjoying and savoring the beauty of Colorado.

Ministry Jottings
“ . . . Let your light shine before all, so they can see the good things you do and praise your Father who is in heaven.” – Matthew 5:16
Each of us are fortunate to be part of ministry for our Lord through the UMC of Evergreen in one way or another. There is a group of folk who not only keep this ministry going for us and allow us wonderful opportunities as the body of Christ, but they also do it out of the deepest sense of faith, integrity and commitment to Christ. These outstanding folk are our staff. I know my ministry would be a shadow of what it has been without them by my side every step of the way. I will miss them – for who they are as wise, compassionate, creative, adaptable and fun-loving individuals -- as well as for their exceptional skills. They truly love our Lord and always give their best for our congregation – long time members, visitors, and community folk alike. Here’s to – Jessica, Sarah, Gayla, Julie, Karen, Nathan, Jill, Elan, Wesley, Milo, Cami and Siena. My greatest thanks and love to each of you! May the Lord bless you at least double the portion with which you have blessed me.

Safeway Grocery Cards
The church has over $2,000 worth of Safeway $10 grocery cards. Since the cards are re-loadable we don’t sell very many of them anymore. We’d like to sell most of them because the church has a lot of money tied up in these cards. They can be used just like cash at Safeway grocery stores and gas stations. They could also be used as gifts for friends, family or charities. The cards may be purchased at the church.
The church received a check for $293.05 from Safeway this month. We earn 5% on the dollars that are spent at Safeway. No check is issued until our transaction amounts equal at least $5,000. This was the first payment we received from Safeway this year. The report that accompanied the check shows that only 4 Safeway cards were used to reach the $5,000 minimum. We should be able to have more cards being used than 4. Let’s see if we can’t really increase this number by buying and using some of the cards that we have available for sale at the church.

Golf Tournament UMCE Hole Sponsorship
In order to help support the Evergreen Public Access Defibrillation (EPAD) program, UMCE is sponsoring a hole at their golf tournament on June 7. It’s a great way to support EPAD’s mission to provide AEDs and CPR training in the Evergreen community and to get the word out about our great church. Did you know that UMCE is home to one of EPAD’s AEDs? It’s located on the wall outside the double kitchen doors.

Baby Bottle Drive
Life’s Options in Evergreen is thankful for life and we are collecting change to change lives. Please pick up your physical or virtual baby bottle today, fill it up with spare change, cash or checks and return to church during the weekend services no later than Father’s Day.
Life’s Options provides much needed services to those in our community who are struggling with an unplanned pregnancy. Their work also goes well beyond counseling services and includes practical support with items needed in the daily care of infants and children. Thank you for supporting and helping us continue our life-changing work. Life is a precious gift and we are thankful for life at every stage.
