Confirmation Email sending Calendar Link Files
|
Outlook Calendar Files have been an option to send as attachments for a long while now. When you email a confirmation, you have the option to send the VCAL file to import into your Outlook Calendar. With Student Manager version 8.0.102, Outlook, Gmail, Yahoo, and Office 365 have been added as links to the receipt.
To use this new feature, you should first update to the latest version of Student Manager. Second, when sending the Registration Confirmation, checkmark the box that says Send Calendar Attachment File (as usual). This will add html to the bottom of course information in the email that goes out. It will add to any Email Confirmation, default or user defined.
Be on the lookout for this feature to hit ACEweb soon!

Tech Tip of the Month: Missing Courses on ACEweb?
|
Have you set courses to publish/register, but found they just were not showing on ACEweb? Well this month's tip is about just that! If you find yourself in this situation, there are three things you want to check:
1. Make sure you have actually set your course to publish/register and haven’t set a date for it to publish instead. This can happen when you are building classes and utilizing the publish/register for a future date, but mistype something and put in the wrong date.
2. Make sure that the grouping codes are set, set to active, and set to show on web. If the courses are showing up on the All Courses page but not showing in the group you expect it to show in, there is a pretty good chance that the grouping code may not be active or set to publish on web. Or, on occasion, you may have added the wrong grouping code.
3. Make sure your course has a description and a catalog code. One thing to note is that if you are making changes to a course and you add/or change something in a field, remember to tab out of the field so that Student Manager knows that you are done. Though rare, it can occur when adding something to a field that it will not save if you do not tab out of the field. This can lead to a situation where you thought you had added a catalog code, but it didn’t take.

Report of the Month: Multi Column in Report Wizard
|
One of the things I pointed out in last week's Report Wizard Webinar (part 1 of a 3 part series,) was the ability to have the data show in the Quick Report in multiple columns. I didn't have time to show it, so I thought I would show it here.
Step Five of the Wizard has a little Columns section (see first image below.) Set your columns and the column print order. You can also adjust the spacing. Once you have it set, you should see results (see second image.) This example is like what I started with in the Report Wizard Webinar with instructor names and what they are teaching, filtered to see just 21 courses. To get a copy of this report, download this, extract the sfx file somewhere, and then import it into the Wizard.
If you missed the webinar, you can see it here. If you want to see what else the Report Wizard can do, sign up for the remaining two parts of the series here.
