Attention All Fifth Grade Families and Friends!
TONIGHT- Fifth Grade IB Exhibition Event
Come and support our Fifth Grade IB Learners!
We hope to see Fifth Grade Families TONIGHT
for this wonderful night of learning!

  • Kids present twice and should plan to be there for both presentation blocks.

  • Kids should arrive at school between 6:15/6:25 PM so they are ready to start presenting right at 6:30 PM.

  • Please stay in the room until the end of the first presentation window - we will sound a chime to signal it is time to transition (so hallway talking & moving doesn't disturb other classrooms where presentations are still happening).
Attention All Fourth Grade Families and Friends!
Tuesday, May 17th at 6:30 PM
You won't want to miss this event!
May is Asian/Pacific American Heritage and Jewish American Heritage Month
May is Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month – a celebration of Asians and Pacific Islanders in the United States. A rather broad term, Asian/Pacific encompasses all of the Asian continent and the Pacific islands of Melanesia (New Guinea, New Caledonia, Vanuatu, Fiji and the Solomon Islands), Micronesia (Marianas, Guam, Wake Island, Palau, Marshall Islands, Kiribati, Nauru and the Federated States of Micronesia) and Polynesia (New Zealand, Hawaiian Islands, Rotuma, Midway Islands, Samoa, American Samoa, Tonga, Tuvalu, Cook Islands, French Polynesia and Easter Island).

Like most commemorative months, Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month originated with Congress. The month of May was chosen to commemorate the immigration of the first Japanese to the United States on May 7, 1843, and to mark the anniversary of the completion of the transcontinental railroad on May 10, 1869. The majority of the workers who laid the tracks were Chinese immigrants.
Jewish American Heritage Month

In 2006, President George W. Bush proclaimed May as Jewish American Heritage Month. This was a result of a concerted effort by American Jewish leaders to introduce resolutions in both the U.S. Senate and the House urging the President to proclaim a month specifically recognizing Jews in America and their contributions to the United States.

Jewish people have been great advocates for other minorities and their rights in America. They participated in the Civil Rights Movement, making up a large portion of white Americans who showed up at voter registrations, rallies, sit-ins, etc. All the achievements by Jewish people, big and small, deserve to be recognized and celebrated, especially during the month of May; Jewish American Heritage Month.
