2.     ICYMI – TownPlace Suites by Marriott is coming to Downtown Iron Mountain
Construction of the new 95-room hotel began this spring at the site of the former Timbers Motor Lodge on Stephenson Avenue. Read more about the project on Upper Michigan’s Source.

3.     Midway Rentals opens in former Birchwood Mall
The construction equipment retailer added a second location in Kingsford’s Birchwood Mall, expanding its footprint beyond Marquette County. Midway Rentals offers construction equipment rentals as well as items for purchase. Read more on Upper Michigan’s Source.

4.     The City of Norway welcomes Dan Stoltman as the new city manager
Dan Stoltman grew up in Milford, MI., about 45 minutes outside of Detroit, the home to the General Motors proving ground. Growing up, he'd come to the UP for outdoor recreation, particularly snowmobiling.

Dan was appointed city manager for the City of Norway in April of 2022 after working as the town manager for the Town of Kremmling in Colorado, a position he held for three years. Prior to moving to Colorado, he was the assistant city administrator for the City of Washburn, Wis., for four years. Other roles include working as a purchasing assistant for Oakland County Purchasing and Compliance and working for his family business as a trim carpenter.

He earned a bachelor's degree in political science from Oakland University and a Master of Public Administration from Eastern Michigan University.

Dan enjoys the outdoors, hiking, camping, backpacking, snowboarding, and mountain biking during his spare time. He looks forward to exploring the UP and finding new adventures.

5.     Farm-to-table restaurant coming to Downtown Iron Mountain
A farm-to-table style restaurant with a heavy focus on quality wine, craft beer, and non-alcoholic beverages plans to open later this year at 421 S Stephenson Avenue.
6.     Kwik Trip coming to Dickinson County
If you have traveled through Wisconsin, Minnesota or Iowa recently, you might have noticed Kwik Trip convenience stores popping up throughout the region. As they expand to Michigan, two new locations will open in our area – one on the northside of Iron Mountain and one on Carpenter Avenue in Kingsford.

7.     BOSS Snowplow completes its manufacturing expansion and starts on an office expansion
The manufacturing expansion houses two Trumpf lasers to increase productivity and automate cutting parts from steel. The next expansion is scheduled for completion in December 2022 and will add square footage to their office space.

8.     NEW Dermatology Group makes a larger commitment to the area
The NEW Dermatology Group opened its new location in January 2022 on the south end of Iron Mountain. The practice offers the same services in Iron Mountain as their offices in Green Bay and Appleton, including treatments for malignant skin cancers; Superficial Radiation Therapy (SRT); Botox injections; skin screenings; and consultations for acne, rashes, moles, and other skin conditions. The New Dermatology Group previously operated out of Bellin Health.

9.     Dickinson Trail Network trail updates
Did you notice the realtor.com article mentioned Mountain Biking? From Iron Mountain to Norway, DTN has been working hard to maintain, enhance, and build out trails. 10.     Kingsford readies to celebrate 100 years
The City of Kingsford Centennial Committee is beginning to plan a celebration of Kingsford’s incorporation in 1923. The Centennial Celebration is slated for August 3-5, 2023, with activities, events and entertainment at Lodal Park and throughout the city. The committee is hosting a flea market on August 6, 2022, at Lodal Park as a fundraiser for the event.
