Webinars return this Wednesday with an exploration of BorisFX Continuum. This collection of utilities and effects runs on all major NLE platforms. One of its key strengths is the ability to repair problem footage. I'm looking forward to showcasing what it can do. As always, registration for my live events is free.
There are several product reviews this week. I'll start with Audio Design Desk (ADD). They just released Media Bridge, which connects ADD with 20 sound effects libraries; all directly accessible from inside Final Cut Pro. PLUS, they announced a new, $1 version of their software to encourage editors to give them a try.
IK Multimedia makes high-quality audio interfaces for computers and mobile devices. This week, I review the iRig Pro Quattro I/O, a four-channel interface designed for live streaming, video recording and music. It's an impressive piece of hardware. Here's my review.
Last week, I wrote a tutorial on how to use Compressor to inspect the metadata of video files. Jim McQuaid sent me a note suggesting I look at MediaInfo, from MediaArea. He's used it for years. After looking at it, I understand why.
Integrating vertical video into a horizontal timeline is increasingly popular these days. So, I wrote a tutorial explaining how to do this in both Apple Final Cut Pro and Adobe Premiere Pro.
I woke up in the middle of the night with a brilliant idea to add to this week's newsletter. Which I promptly forgot when I woke up, again, in the morning. A lot of my ideas are like that - brilliant in the middle of the night and smoke in the morning. I think this means I should sleep less and learn how to write notes with my eyes closed. I'll, ah, work on that.
In the meantime, stay healthy and edit well.
