You can't throw a rock without hitting something running AI these days. Well, at least it seems that way. When it comes to video editing, Adobe Sensei is Adobe's brand name for software tools that use machine language to enable editors to do more in Premiere Pro and other Adobe applications.

Jourdan Aldredge with Soundstripe, provides an overview of Adobe Sensei in this guest post.

In the news:

Audio Design Desk announced Media Bridge, along with a new low-cost version of their sound design software. Media Bridge provides direct access to over 20 sound libraries integrated into Audio Design Desk. Tens of thousands of sound effects! Available for Final Cut Pro.

Teradek introduced the Bolt 4K HDMI - a wireless video solution for HDMI-only setups. Fully cross-compatible with every device in the Bolt 4K product family.

NoFilmSchool.com published a very interesting blog: "Understand the Origins of Cinema with This Important History Lesson." The art of cinema started long before the motion picture and this blog, which takes only a few minutes to read, looks at how light shaped motion pictures. (Thanks Constance, for the heads-up!)

ffWorks released ffWorks 3.1. This combines the latest macOS technologies, reinforced by user feedback, with a lot of new and improved features and full native Apple Silicon support, to redefine manipulating media files with FFmpeg.

Anton/Bauer released Titon Base. This is a slimmer, lighter, more powerful power base for compact cine cameras. The 68Wh Titon Base is a portable power hub designed to deliver hours more runtime than the consumer batteries supplied with cameras in a lightweight, travel-friendly form.

Webinars return this Wednesday with an exploration of BorisFX Continuum. This collection of utilities and effects runs on all major NLE platforms. One of its key strengths is the ability to repair problem footage. I'm looking forward to showcasing what it can do. As always, registration for my live events is free.

There are several product reviews this week. I'll start with Audio Design Desk (ADD). They just released Media Bridge, which connects ADD with 20 sound effects libraries; all directly accessible from inside Final Cut Pro. PLUS, they announced a new, $1 version of their software to encourage editors to give them a try.

IK Multimedia makes high-quality audio interfaces for computers and mobile devices. This week, I review the iRig Pro Quattro I/O, a four-channel interface designed for live streaming, video recording and music. It's an impressive piece of hardware. Here's my review.

Last week, I wrote a tutorial on how to use Compressor to inspect the metadata of video files. Jim McQuaid sent me a note suggesting I look at MediaInfo, from MediaArea. He's used it for years. After looking at it, I understand why.

Integrating vertical video into a horizontal timeline is increasingly popular these days. So, I wrote a tutorial explaining how to do this in both Apple Final Cut Pro and Adobe Premiere Pro.

I woke up in the middle of the night with a brilliant idea to add to this week's newsletter. Which I promptly forgot when I woke up, again, in the morning. A lot of my ideas are like that - brilliant in the middle of the night and smoke in the morning. I think this means I should sleep less and learn how to write notes with my eyes closed. I'll, ah, work on that.

In the meantime, stay healthy and edit well.
