The first week of practices along with skills training are this week and games are this Saturday, March 11! I want to personally welcome you to the Spring 1 season and to the Alodia family. Thank you for trusting us to deliver a great league and experience for your child. We are excited for another season of Alodia's Competitive Basketball League.

As we strive to deliver on our mission of Developing the Next Generation of Leaders through Sports, we are looking forward to helping your child begin/continue their journey to learn incredible life lessons through our basketball programs.

After providing these programs for many seasons, we realize you may have initial questions on why things are the way they are … we encourage you to "Trust and Embrace the Process" and ask along the way if needed! Alodia Supervisors are always on-site and/or we are an email/text/call away.

Below are some tips to have a successful season...

Be supportive of your coach who is volunteering their time to help your child learn the game of basketball and all it brings. Please show appreciation...and grace...whenever possible.

Be positive with the game referees. You won't get every call, I promise. Please model the behavior you would want a parent to have if your own son, daughter, or spouse was officiating. Read a great article on this.

Be a great sports parent!

  • Do you know one of the main reasons children quit playing sports? The car ride home!
  • Do you know the ten words every child wants to hear from their parent after a game? "I LOVE watching you play and am proud of YOU!" This coupled with waiting 24 hours after a game to give constructive feedback will do wonders for your children and you as a parent.
  • The same 24-hour time period pause in addressing any team, coach, referee, and/or staff issues can be beneficial.
  • Practice the power of positivity! We highly recommend finding ways to praise a teammate, the other team, each other. And never criticize a coach or official. Read more great tips for being a great sports parent.

Life is about choices. We can't control what happens to us, but we can control how we respond.

As parents, staying involved in the league pays back more than you can imagine. I would recommend you consider coaching in the future, volunteering to keep the score book or score clock, cheering for the team and coach, or some other involvement.

Wishing you the best of luck on and off the court. Have a great season!
