message from the president
I hope everyone is enjoying springtime and getting ready for what I am sure will be a busy summer. I also hope you can take some time to vacation, to have down time, or to do something else you enjoy.
VAPDC certainly has had a busy late winter and spring since my last message. Several of our VAPDC committees have met during this time. We also rounded out our virtual Winter Series with a great discussion about ways that PDCs and localities can be successful in working together. And once again, a number of our PDCs had folks head to our nation’s capital for the annual NADO Washington Conference. In addition to the usual useful content at the conference, we also used our time to have some informative meetings on Capitol Hill (see more information below).
As was noted in the last newsletter, in lieu of the annual Summer Conference this year, VAPDC is organizing training opportunities for PDC staff over the course of the next fiscal year (beginning next month). These will be a mix of virtual and in-person events, beginning with a session on the Freedom of Information Act in June. We have just sent out the first round of information about this session, as well additional August and September events that are being planned.
Thank you for what you do. PDCs are all about collaboration, and we appreciate the great things that are accomplished when people, groups and organizations work together. Best wishes for a great rest of spring and summer!
