Men help Heart+Hand load another truckload of clothes
Men from Elizabeth Memorial United Methodist Church in Charleston and First United Methodist Church in South Charleston teamed with other volunteers and staff from Heart + Hand in South Charleston again on May 9 to load a truck with used clothing.
It was a repeat of an April 12 effort.
Eddie Bucklen, executive director of Heart + Hand, explained that the April effort filled the available truck before the agency’s warehouse could be emptied. The latest effort, which employed a 28-foot truck, finished the job.
The used clothes were out of season. Heart + Hand, a mission project of the United Methodist Church, sold the clothes to Causeworthy Clothes of Alta Vista, Va., the largest clothing recycler in Virginia and West Virginia, for eight cents a pound.
Causeworthy Cothes sends clothes to Central America, South America, or any area that has experienced a natural disaster.
