CARVER VOICES - MARCH
CARVER CENTER AND CBS NEWS

Tony Aiello stopped by to interview our CEO Anne Bradner and Chief Program Officer, Daniel Bonnet about the end of pandemic-era benefits and how that was going to affect our Carver Market operations. We are meeting the challenge head-on as we are already seeing an increased number of community members coming to the Market each week. #feedingourcommunity
CARVER CELEBRATED BLACK HISTORY MONTH

Carver Center honored three outstanding members of our community at a well-attended Black History Month celebration on February 25.  Isaiah Brown, Carver Center’s Teen Center Assistant, Kiah Thomas, a member of the New Guard organization, which is dedicated to building supporting young BIPoC (Black, Indigenous and People of Color) and, Vanessa Clay-Williams, a Port Chester School District counselor, received their congratulatory proclamations in front of a room full of friends, family members and dignitaries.

THANK YOU TO OUR CURRENT SPONSORS!

We already have a great roster of sponsors who will be supporting our 80th Celebration Benefit on Saturday, April 22nd at the Westchester Country Club.

Sponsorships are still available, along with an opportunity to purchase Journal ads to congratulate our Sister Rosemary Sheehan Award recipient, Maureen Gomez, who has enriched the lives of so many community members, for so many years.

TACKLING FOOD INSECURITY AND POVERTY

The Westchester Poverty Symposium, sponsored by 914 Cares, was an opportunity for individuals to come together to learn about innovative, community-driven partnerships focused on helping those in need. Our Chief Program Officer, Daniel Bonnet was a member of a panel discussion on “Using Food Rescue to Combat Food Insecurity”. Our new Carver Retail Recovery van is collecting high-quality food that would otherwise go to waste from SIX supermarket locations throughout Westchester. The van was recently purchased through a grant received from Feeding Westchester. The food recovered is distributed through our Carver Market operations.
DINNER @ NOON DELISH

Come on over to Carver Center on Saturdays from 11 - 1. Our recent Dinner @ Noon program was attended by 41 happy members of our community. A delicious meal was prepared by our Food Services Team and was served by our volunteers from Rye's Church of the Resurrection.

We hope to see you soon!
WELCOME EDWIN!

Our Teen Center program has a new intern, Edwin Flores, who is majoring in Criminal Justice from Monroe College. He is a member of the Port Chester community and has been a part of Carver programming since he was young. He was also a member of the Teen Center and graduated from Port Chester High School in 2018.

He will be with us through April on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Edwin is excited to have this opportunity to be able to give back to his community.
