October 10 is World Mental Health Day

The goal of World Mental Health Day is to raise awareness of mental health issues and to mobilize efforts in support of mental health. Through this year's theme "Making Mental Health & Well-Being for All a Global Priority," the World Health Organization (WHO) is working with partners to bridge the mental health gap. Learn more about what the WHO is doing this year.

If you're interested in hearing more about mental health in the medical field, you can watch MUSM alum, Dr. Nicole Mette's talk on mental illness awareness. In her presentation she defines burnout and mental illness, how it can be recognized in ourselves and others, and how to overcome barriers to find ways to effectively cope.

If you are interested in exploring local and virtual events related to Mental Health Awareness. Resilient Middle Georgia has complied a list of events in their most recent newsletter.

If you, or someone you know is suffering from a mental health crisis, please call the Georgia Crisis & Access Line at 800-715-4225 or click here for more mental health resources.
