What could "The Big One" actually look like?
We're due for a big earthquake—the Wasatch Front has a 43 percent chance of experiencing a 6.75 or greater magnitude earthquake in the next fifty years. Experts project that such an event would be among the deadliest disasters in U.S. History.

Many of us have heard this statistic before, but do we really understand what it means? Envision Utah recently asked experts to help us paint a picture of what our state might look like after "The Big One". Click the link below to check out the projections and learn how we can be better prepared.

Episode Two covers the top sources of emissions in our state and details the actions individuals can take in their homes and day-to-day lives to help improve our air quality.

After many years of stakeholder and working group engagement, Envision Utah will launch the Creating Community Guide: A Guide to Walkable Centers at this year's 2021 Quality Communities Academy.

The guide is a resource for local governments, developers, and the public to create live, work, play, and learn communities in Utah. At the event, Envision Utah will present key topics in the guide, as well as how to use the guide as a resource for your community.

We will also hear from speakers across Utah in breakout sessions on:

  • Myths, NIMBYism, & Public Engagement: Dissect the most common myths on centers and high-density development from NIMBYs and learn how to combat them through values-based public engagement.

  • Centers in Different Settings: The best centers are unique to their location. Learn about incorporating centers in a variety of settings including retrofits and in rural communities.

  • Implementation First Steps: How to get started as a city council member, elected official, or other city staff member.
