Thoughts for Today

I went to the Women of Influence Luncheon last week. So many tidbits made an impression on me.

  • If you have a negative committee in your head right now... let them know that their services are no longer needed.
  • I'm all for progress and not perfection.
  • You may have arrived but your work is not done.
  • Leave this world better when you leave it
  • We must live for a purpose larger than us
  • Be positively salty. Add flavor to someone's life. Added to ice, the ice melts and becomes malleable.
  • In order to grow, you must be fed watered and repotted.
  • It's not how much money you make. It's about how much positive influence you have created. Michelle Obama.
  • Ego is overdressed insecurity.
  • Today is a gift. That's why it's called the present.
  • You can do it all, just not at the same time.
  • If you're waiting for permission...boom. here you go. I give you permission to live your passions.
  • What is greatness to you? Set your standards high and meet it.

Pick one and have a wonderful day!

Literacy Celebration
5:30 - 8:00 pm
Oak Creek Community Center

EWI Milwaukee is committed to supporting local literacy efforts with our annual literacy meeting. This year, we are gifting funds to two worthy organizations to benefit their own literacy initiatives. EWI Milwaukee is happy to welcome representatives from Next Door and the YWCA Southeast Wisconsin.

EWI recognizes that literacy doesn't just stop at books, which is why we are supporting digital access for the YWCA students obtaining their GED and HSED. By having access to needed tools and technologies such as computers, the students will have the digital literacy to learn and work where access to information is through such digital technologies.
Guest speakers from Next Door, Cristina Crogan (Vice President of Development and Communication) and Dr. Tonya Hameister (Director of Educational Services) will present us with an overview and update of new and exciting literacy initiatives at Next Door. They will also discuss the details of the Accelerator Program for the 4K and 5K readers group and how our literacy funding will impact that program and families in the Milwaukee community. YWCA SEW Chief Program Officer, Jennifer de Montmollin, will share a snapshot of YWCA Southeast Wisconsin's Economic Empowerment programs with an emphasis on its Personal Financial Management program, which builds financial literacy and wealth building skills through workshops, 1:1 coaching, and community collaboration.
Don't forget to invite your executives to this event! We would love for them to experience this wonderful work that we do as a chapter.
