Dearest Friends, Neighbors and Allies,
As a Board we thought it was important to end the year on a positive note.
The headlines all seem so doom and gloom, but it’s the Holidays and we wanted to make sure we spread some Holiday Cheer.
So we brainstormed. And we debated. And searched our souls. I even wrung my hands! What good news could we share?
So I turned off the News (I don’t actually watch the news, but it’s a story, bear with me) and went for a drive. As I drove I passed 5 Help Wanted Signs. That’s when it came to me...
There is a TON of Good News! We’re just not good as Democrats at talking about it. Unemployment is under 5% Nationally, under 3% in NH, the GDP is Up, we added over 200,000 jobs in November, AND our Labor Participation Rate is higher than when COVID hit. So more Americans are looking for work and More Americans are finding work! American’s have more saved than they have, maybe ever. Pay for hourly workers in leisure and hospitality jumped 13% this year.
Listen, I know many of you, no. Many of US wanted more. We wanted sweeping reforms that obliterated the corporations first US Economy. Many of us want to end student debt, others want to impose a wealth tax, we need more money in schools, and we needed to pass a Constitutional Amendment protecting Roe. The work isn’t done, and this is not enough.
But because of Biden’s Stimulus and his Build Back Better plans, 3 million children will be kept out of poverty. Broadband is coming. 80% of the jobs created by the Infrastructure Plan won’t require a college degree. I could go on.
There is a LOT of Good News! It just isn’t covered by the news. We as Democrats always want more. We want no one to go hungry in a country that can afford to feed the world, and still have change for SUVs. We MUST address Climate Change. NOW!
But, here’s the thing, the only way we get to address any of that is to get MORE Democrats elected. Complaining and being negative won’t do a thing. We have a LOT to be proud of. We have a lot to brag about. This COULD be just the start, or we can say, well it ain’t enough and go home. That to me MUST be the Choice in 2022. Our Party has accomplished SO much. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. They will! Anxiety and Anger has been proven to keep people on Facebook and watching the News. If you let them, they will convince you that there is no good news. That is crap. Let’s start telling our neighbors about what we’ve done. No one else will.
